Default Swapping out Speakers

Hey everyone. Need some advice on door speakers in my '05 QC. I have read many posts on here and wanted to see if the consensus has changed before I order what was suggested to others.

First off, I have a Panasonic CQ-C5303U headunit (http://shopping.msn.com/specs/panaso...-cd-mp3-player). It says it is a "Mosfet 50Wx4", whatever that means. Also, I DO NOT want to put in an amp. I am simply looking to replace the stock door speakers to give a louder, more crisp sound (for the least amount of $, obviously). I am hoping that this deck can provide the power for that... but thats where I need help from you guys.

In a previous post, it was recommended that these be used. Could my deck power all 4?

I am a complete novice in car audio stuff, so any advice you can give me would be great. I have looked around at Crutchfield, but to be honest, I am not sure what I am looking for.

Thanks everyone

The good thing about Crutchfield is that in most cases, they supply the wiring harnesses and any brackets you will need. They are great people to do business with. Also, you can call them and they will assist you over the phone. That would prolly be your best bet. They are extremely helpful.

Oh yeah........The metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET, MOS-FET, or MOS FET) is a device used to amplify or switch electronic signals. It is by far the most common field-effect transistor in both digital and analog circuits. The MOSFET is composed of a channel of n-type or p-type semiconductor material (see article on semiconductor devices), and is accordingly called an NMOSFET or a PMOSFET (also commonly nMOSFET, pMOSFET).

And the 50W is the watts that the head unit is sending out. The front doors can hold 6x9 speakers, which will offer decent bass for what you are looking for.

Thanks for the info. I am mainly just concerned as to what speakers my head unit will be able to power. I want the most bang for my buck, but I need the speakers to reach their full potential as well.

Thanks

Your head unit will be able to power them. I have an aftermarket deck and it doesn't put out nearly as much power as my 6x9's can handle but it will still get really loud and sound good. With the volume up 4/5 of the way (haven't even had it turned up all the way yet) I can clearly hear my music from outside with everything closed. It still sounds good at lower volumes too.

Here is what I have for 6x9's...For just having em hooked up to an aftermarket deck they can get pretty loud and with your equalizer adjusted right they can deliver some good bass (not sub with an amp loud but good enough for me.)

As for the rear speakers take a look at these:

If you don't really know what you want for speakers just establish a $$ amount, research all your options in that price range, and then pick what seems to be the best. Or you could come back here for some more advice and see what we think about your choices.

Which ever speakers you get, don't mix/match brands! Also, I just bought Polk Audio's from CircuitCity.com and they have a buy one get the 2nd half off. Now, the main problem is nicer speakers won't sound as good as the cheaper speakers primarily due to their power capability. You cannot have a 300watt speaker and only supply it with 50w and expect it to sound great. i would go for the Pioneer's like you had posted as they utilize much less power to operate and will sound much better for the budget you have planned. The cheaper head unit you use will sound "muddier" than a better one because the EQ controls aren't going to be nowhere near the same. The great thing with Crutchfield is they give you a 30 money back gurantee! Crutchfield can be pretty darn pricey on the higher end models so be sure to shop around if you decide otherwise, but for the money you want to spend, they will be great for ya.

speaking of Crutchfield again, they provide all of the brackets, mounting stuff, harnesses, etc.....its all included! That pretty much makes the price work out about the same.

keep in mind the 50wx4 is not rms output the rms output of most headunits is approx. 15-25 watts rms.

just about any coax will sound decent with just a head unit. you arn't going to get the best quality until they are amped so i'd just go with the TSA's from pioneer or the infiniti's. not a huge fan of the polk DB stuff, sounds tinny IMO but their MOMO and signature reference stuff is the ****. but that's anywhere from 300-1000 bux a pair. which truly for what they are aint bad.

Look for the highest decibel per watt. This will give louder sound with less power. Look for at least 93 Decibel per watt. Pioneer 4 ways sound good in the doors for the money @ 93DpW.

What's so bad about mixing brands?
