Default How to connect my IPOD??

Hey all, Name is David and I just traded my 2008 JEEP 4 door for a 2006 1500 Ram 2wd, big horn, with HEMI( I love it). My question is it has the infinity sound system with out the navigation BUT it has no aux plug for my IPOD. I know the cheapest way would be one of the cigarette lighter adapters that transmit to an FM frequency. Those sound like crap though. I have a pioneer deck I could install but the wiring harness adapter is 160 bucks alone and I would rather retain the fatory stereo. What are my other options?? and What did you do?

Thanks in advance!

What is the radio code on the front of the radio REF or RAQ?

Here is the factory add-on

I checked out that 2nd link and here's what it said.
NOTE: Satellite radio presets will be erased when iPod is used

WTF is up with that. So much for quality Ipod integration. Can the Factory not do any better????

I saw that too???

The first one is a better set-up anyway.
My stock radio had the front plug (REF unit) and I bought the $3 cable @ Walmart for it and it sounded fine. I upgraded to a (RAQ) 6 disc MP3 unit and it does not have a plug. But I can put over 120 mp3's on one CD so I don't need it.

Say what?? What model is your headunit? Is it something special because all you would need is the typical dodge ram to aftermarket adapter. I just bought mine off ebay for $6 and that includes shipping. Works fine. I also bought the DIN off ebay and antenna adapter. Everything together was less than $25.

IF all I need is the regular dodge adapter thats fine but every place I called asked if it had the infinity sound, which it does, and they said the wiring adapter its self was 159.99 and the dash kit was another $14. At that point I decided I wasnt going to spend to $180 to install a 2 year old deck thats only worth $100 now. But if I only need the normal **** then awesome, Ill do it.

Yea I forgot how Dodge sets up their "premium audio system". Sorry about overlooking that. Dodge keeps an amp for that system under the airbag and doesn't use the receiver as an amp. The only way to use your current system setup with your deck is to use this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_541CHYA...e.html?tp=3486

...or you can run new wiring to the speakers.
....or (i don't recommend but it'd be easy) you can chop off the factory plug and splice into the existing wires.

Dodge really screwed people over that wanted to add an aftermarket system with their glorious 7 speaker system.

Other iPod options would be this...

But its also $140.

EDIT**

I did find this though:

and even better for your use... http://www.crutchfield.com/p_541CHYX...r.html?tp=3486
