Default Opininons on truck choice

Hey all,

I am looking for your opinions on the following: A month ago I traded in my 05 2500 diesel and purchased a 1500 hemi for financial reasons. Ever since I have been regretting my decision as the 1500 just doesn't work to well for the job I have and living on a farm. Yesterday I found a fully loaded 06 2500 Laramie with the Hemi/Auto, DVD, Airbags w/compressor, upgraded front suspension, exhaust, 1yr warranty and 38,500 miles. I REALLY like it, especially the rough, bumpy ride compared to the 1500. One thing to note is it was used to tow a fith wheel trailer for about 10,000 miles this summer. The dealer is willing to trade straight across, but I walked on the deal since my truck only has 2,000 miles I figured I would at least get a $1,000 more for my truck. What do you think, should I stick with the new truck or trade it in for the 2500?

Note: My 1500 also has the dreaded 4x4 vibration which is already driving me crazy, the 2500 was smooth as silk in comparision.

Sorry for the loss of the diesel. If it was me, I would definitly get the 2500. But thats just me. It seems like you actually need it too.

Why not just regear the 1500 with 4.56 gears and get a Diablosport Predator to up the power a bit.

Once you own a 2500 Ram, you will never want a 1500 Ram, the bigger question is how much of a hit did you take tradding down and how much of a hit are you taking by tradding back up.

The 1500 Ram will not hold any resale value, not that I ever worry abought that, and I'm not much in the know with the new 6.7, I think the 06 still had the 5.9, but my point is, thier no debate on what truck is better, but what $$$$$$$$ makes sense for you.

Thanks for the replies. This isn't an issue of money or power, since they are willing to trade straight across and both vehicles have a Hemi. It's a matter of needing the extra payload. My only other concern is the 2500 being used. I have never owned a used vehicle and it would only have a 1 yr warranty. On the other hand Dodge can never seem to fix thing under warranty anyway so it probably doesn't mean much to have the lifetime warranty on the 08.

See what kind of extended warranty you can get out of them. If it were me I would try to get a warranty at the very least at the dealer cost and get the 2500.

vibration? Have you checked your tierods or ball joints? My buddy had his balljoint go at only 2900miles

I know GM had a dreaded vibration for their 1500's. It was something to do with the rear shackles i think or rear suspension?????
