What Remote Starters won't void warranty
I'm thinking of a remote start on my 2008 Ram hemi big horn and was told some may void warranty. Would taking it to best buy for example for a starter void it?
My aftermarket Code Alarm that I installed has a 2yr warranty and tech support from the place I bought it and when that runs out, Code Alarm has a lifetime warranty on the module itself as well as free tech support.
Any place you buy an aftermarket alarm from usually has a better warranty than Chrysler will give with their over pirced unit. Their unit my dealer wanted $550 installed and you must have them install it because they have to reflash the ecu with a starscan tool to turn the starter function on. Also, the range for the factory remote is HORRIBLE. Like 150ft and that's it. My remote is good for 1mile in sight. Or about 1/2mile between buildings and it cost me half what the dealer charges and I got a better warranty as well.
If you ask your local dealer if it will void warranty, they will probably tell you yes because they want to make money on their kit. They are completely lieing and I wish we could sue for that, but we can't. No alarm factory/aftermarkt can void your vehicle warranty unless it's not installed properly. Then if it's not installed right, you can always go to the place that installed it. A remote start either works or it doesn't. Not installed properly is a loose term. If things work when it's installed. Chances are it's 99.9% correct!
My dealer told me that any dealer installed Mopar accessory is covered by the 3/36 and my 72mo/85K bumper to bumper extended Chrysler EasyCare warranty.
They did the same when they installed the add-on U-Connect on the wife's Caliber.

I bought that key off ebay to get rid of the huge factory lock/unlock remote since I had the fobb. I have a super tiny one as well.

I don't need one, I have no trouble walking outside to start my truck, but if I got one, it would be OEM. I don't usually waste my gas by warming up the truck. It warms faster under a load driving down the road.
It is a popular option/add-on. I may get one for the wife. She is alot more fragile than I am when it comes to it being cold outside.
