LSD!!! Which one and why?
Hey guys I am going to be doing some major power gainers to my 05 ram and I plan on lifting it 4'' and putting 35x13.5 tires on it. I will be putting 4.56 gears in it and now I am wondering what LSD I should put in it and why. I am between the Detroit Lockers, Detroit Tru-Tracs, and the Auburn. What are the Pro's and Con's between them because the auburns are $200 less than the Lockers. I will be putting them in the front and back. And experiences and knowledge would be a great help.

I voted TruTracs, even though I own an Auburn and am VERY pleased with it. When I bought mine, the TruTrac's were on backorder from Detroit (they were in the process of being bought out by Eaton) and I was not patient enough to wait.
The Auburns do a great job, probably every bit as good as the Detroit TruTrac, but the Auburn has clutch pacs that can wear over time and the TruTrac (in theory, anyway) has no such wear parts.
Forget a true locker, unless it's an E-Locker you can turn off and on for a vehicle that is registered for road use. You'll ratchet on every turn and wear out tires and driveline components much faster on pavement.

Sounds like a plan to me. So basically the main difference between the tru-tracs and the auburns is going to be that clutch plate. considering how much I will be investing in my ride it will be worth the extra $100 per unit. With those will it give traction to both tires in the back at all times? Basically will i be able to do donuts or leave to black strips on a burn out? If not how do these two LSD's function?

Detroit TrueTrca has a worm gear drive. It won't bind, chatter or have any locking sounds when turning or burning! There's no clutch packs to wear and no friction modifier is needed. Modifier drys out your seals, so they will last longer. The truetrac is as smooth as can be and you'll never even feel like you have a locker back there until you need it! Hands down best pick IMO.

How exactly does the Tru-trac work compared to how the Auburn works. I have alot of friends that like to race on the track and they have both of those two. I know they do a good job because my one friends mustang puts out 800+ RWHP out of a 281 cubic inch motor. But I am just curious in terms of every day usage versus off roading and snow driving usage.

The DTT is a worm dirve torque biasing system, that apportions torque where it's needed ie the spinning wheel.
The Aurburn does the same, but uses clutches to distribute the torque.
I have recently (approx6 weeks ago) installed a DTT.
I can tell you from the get go, it's smoother and everything to drive the truck now.
I have no chatter or that feeling of juddering as the old stock LSD used to do when pulling away sometimes.
Plus, as was said by DirtyDog and I totally agree with him, no more additive to muck around with and cost extra dollars.
Just use your regular Mopar 75W-140 that Chrysler say to use.
Replacing that grenade of a stock LSD, was the single best thing I have done to my truck so far.
It's not a question of if it's gonna' blow........rather when!
Now, if I could only afford to replace the crappy transmission and get rid of the torque management...............I'd be a happy bunny.
Here's a couple of pics of my DTT both before and during the install.
Hope this helps you?

I just open up my Paint program.
Go to File....and Open.
Then you got to Image and scroll down to resize/skew.
I usually knock the size down to 30%, but you can make it much smaller if you'd like. Maybe I should try smaller so I can fit more pics?
