More airflow is great, but you need to complete the system in order for that air to be rendered useful. He has great airflow unitl he hits those FM44's. If you were to cut one of those open it would look like an amusement park. The FM's are more restrictive than stock to produce their great sound. Trust me I have the 50 series, which is less restrictive than the 44's, and it still led to a slight loss in mileage and that is the facts. We are only talking like thenths so it's no big deal, but it does sound really well so I don't mind it. After all I didn't buy a 5000+ pound truck with a V8 and all terrians if I wanted it to have good gas mileage. Just remember we are not driving camry's or neon's, nor would I ever drive something that small. just my .02 at the end of that.

Well my first question is how big of a lift/tires did you go and did you re-gear it with 4.56's? 4.56's will bring you above stock performance with 35'' tires and roughly bring you back to stock performance with 36-38'' tires. The low end TQ with the 4.56's will also greatly boost your in-town mileage. 4.56's are alot of people's favorite mods on this forum and it is for a good reason. Also I noticed that you live in NY. I live in Chicago and it gets cold much like NY. One reason for an instant loss is all the additives that the witer blends have. My mileage drops on average about 2mpg during the winter because of this blend. A second reason is because now you probably let your truck warm up. A V8 uses roughly 1gallon/hour of idoling. That is at 0 miles of traveling which equates to 0mpg. Another reason is because the fuel/air mixture is different with this real cold and dense air. Have you noticed that during the summer your engine gets to the proper temp within a mile or two and then you can get good mileage. In the winter it takes much longer to get to that point. Those are just some simple facts of why the winter kills us. lol

Also remember that if you didn't recalibrate your spedometer when you lifted it your truck speed and logged miles will be off. A good rule of thumb is that about every 2'' increase in tire size will throw your speedo off by about 10%. So you are driving alot more miles than you are registering and your speedo will read slower than you are actually going. Just a heads up so that you don't have to learn the hard way like many others have.

True that but when you have Flowmasters it is hard to keep your foot of the peddle.

You won't notice a single bit of diff. if you change out your plug wires. The only time you benefit from those are if your stock one's are bad or you have lots of voltage due to a high HP application and an aftermarket ignition.

You own an 8cyl 6,000lb GAS GUZZLER! Were you not aware of this when you bought it? Go buy a NEON to get really good mileage!

Alright I hate to sound pissed off but none of you seem to realize why he is asking about his gas mileage. He knows he has a truck and loves it if you would actually listen to what he asked. He is asking how to get better mpg or how to return to the same he had. Why does every one bash someone who wants better gas mileage is that not a smart thing to do I think the its a great thing to do. Who wants to spend more at the pump then they have to. Yes we drive trucks I am pretty sure that we know that and suggesting to buy a new car is dumb there is a reason we got the truck in the first place. So why don;t you give a helpfull response instead of suggesting something that is completly out of the question. Now asside from that I would save up and replace trhe muffler with magnaflow as it is one of the best for flow on the market and seriously look into gears as it will help the bigger tires and the 6" lift you have on your truck accelerate with a less of a load on the engine which will increase mpg.
