Mods No Good
Lets see i have a k&N cold air intake and also 2 flomaster 44s with shorty headers and im not getting any better MPG what can i do to change this. right now im getting a superchip to see if this will help me but what are some small things i can do to help me out
to be honest with you, i just put an intake on and am not noticing anything. to me modding trucks wont do anything but eat away mpg. i never understood how adding things will change the mpg unless its re-gearing. the whole pt of hp is to burn fuel quicker. just my 2 cents
You lost backpressure and low end torque by opening up the exhaust, thus it takes more fuel/air to overcome the loss. The stock manifolds/y-pipe with a good cat-back like Magnaflow will make the best set-up.

Get rid of the FM44's if you want to increase mileage and performance. I have a cat-back FM50 DOR and my mileage didn't go up or really down. FM's are extremely restrictive to the point of where they are worse than stock. I will admit that they sound great but don' t flow worth crap. Look into magnaflows or AeroTurbine 3030's. IMO they still sound great, but flow alot better.
thanks. but i dont have the money to change it back and i guess its not really worth it. just thought i would see if like changing the spark plug wires to these http://www.car-stuff.com/jbasparkplugwires.htm
or maybe just a all around tune up
or maybe just a all around tune up
How can more air flow be worse on mpgs? As was explained to me, it's like blowing through a small straw designed for sipping coffee, and then through the hose to a vacuum. However, if you have lots of twists that will be harder for it to flow than a direct system.
