bearing
After reading thru this post more I understand that maybe I am confused as to what he is trying to do.
The units that I put in were a hub and bearing assembly so messing up the old hub didn't really matter, although I didn't want to damage the aluminum housing the assembly mounts in. The aluminum corrosion on the housing is what keeps the hub assembly from coming out easily. Once you get enough room between the hub assembly and the housing one can pry out the unit.
Maybe the confusion is the bearing replacement in the hub vs. a hub/bearing assembly replacement??
