bearing
so i cant get my wheel bearing/hub out of the arm that its in, its rusted in and i took all the bolts out so thats not it but it just wont budge i even pulled out the big hammer to whack it, any other ideas would help
I've heard that they can be a real B****h !!!
Have you tried some heat and a bigger hammer?
Oh and BTW, after having read something on another site recently whereby a guy was lucky to escape with his life after his truck fell of the jack, make sure when whacking the bearing you have the truck well supported on stands etc.
Not trying to teach you to suck eggs or anything, but that's how hard your probably going to have to whack this bearing!

i was gunna do heat but i took the whole arm the bearings attached to off, so i can get at it better but its still bein a pain in the A*s i have it layin on my garage floor and am wacking it with everything i have and nothing, i dont want to destroy the bearing becuase its off my friends old ram and im putting it on mine
You can try to remove a stud and then you put the biggest bolt that it the stud hole and put the nut behind the flange of the bearing. Then you rotate the bearing and find the flatest spot on the spindle and align your bolt there. While holding the nut behind the flange with an open wrench tighten the bolt and it will pry your bearing from the spindle with ease.
So I'm understanding...you are putting a used wheel bearing into your truck. Hate to sound like an ahole but wouldn't you feel more comfortable with a new bearing? Found a couple on ebay for $100 +/- including shipping.
Just replaced both of mine and had to whack the ever living S**t out of the passenger side bearing to it to get it off. I sprayed WD40 on everything. I also used a big chisel and hammer to separated the hub from the arm. Try to drive the chisel between the hub and the tin brake shield. Just my thoughts, that is what worked for me.

sorry to hack it, but im having a clunking grinding noise when i turn or hit a bump and after a little while of driving straight with slight turns, i jacked it up and shook the wheel it has alot of play both vertically and horizontally i thought they were the wheel bearing but i guess how would i know for sure if its bearing or ball joint becuase some people are saying my bearings will do that with the play too
Grabbed this from your post on another thread...
Sounds like you may have both issues, not sure. Is it a grinding or a growel? If grinding the bearing could have enough play that the brakes are rubbing on the rotor, I would think you would have growls and squeeks driving straight with no bumps. Don't know what else to tell you. I replaced bearings and tierods.
Hope some of this helps I know it is not cheap to fix, but I enjoy the truck now that I can drive without odd sounds.

Hate to say it, but sounds wrong to be wacking at bearings with a hammer and such. You might try a u-rent it place a get a BIG 3 fingered puller----yes, they do make them that big, I have several at work for working on HUGE fans and associated bearings. Just hope you don't break the hub out.
Good Luck!!!
