Default Would this used budget CAI at $75 be ok for my 08 Hemi?

I was browsing some classified and found this thrifty CAI at $75 obo. It came off of an '06 Ram Hemi. What's your take on this CAI...seems like a thrifty deal and I've never installed a CAI...are there any instructions out there?

You can get those new on Ebay for that price...not really a deal for a used one.

As far as installing one, it's pretty simple: remove your stock airbox and plenum cover, then simply clamp the CAI in place.

As for it being a deal, well, you can buy a new CAI and spend anywhere from $50 to $300 depending on the brand. Seeing as how the one in question is used, if you do buy it, go to autozone or any other auto parts store and buy a new cone filter for it. Since that unit is used, the filter isn't clean, you're better off with a new filter.

I've never been a fan of those ebay metal CAI's...I doubt the seller even paid $75 when it was new. I bought a brand new MIT tube from Airaid for $110...it uses the stock air box though which some don't like.

The Air Raid system is probably functionally equivalent to a full replacement system and looks good too. The only thing I'd have a problem with is paying $110 for a single 90 degree bent pipe and 2 rubber couplers.

I could make a fortune buying 90 bends off ebay, adding couplers, and selling them as "intake kits". Hmmmmm......

You just figured out the Ebay scam, get in line with the rest of those guys....lmao

Those cheap metal kits are rust ******!
You could advertise your kits as "Never Rust out like those cheap kits sold by others here on Ebay"...lol
Set everyone up with some plumbing supplies for their Custom CAI's...hehehe
That is exactly what a JLT intake is for the Mustangs! I was so pissed when I got it in the mail and paid $240 for a piece of PVC that was painted and had some plumbing rubber bends. WTF
I ike the Airraid tube though. Insurance can't F*** you for that. HA

True...but besides the cone filter isn't that all an CAI is anyway? Why spend $300 for a cone filter thrown in and maybe a heat shield if you're lucky...doesn't seem worth it to me. Or why spend $75 on a cheap metal knock off with a filter that's not worth the box it comes in...when you can spend $35 more and get a well known brand. I dunno..that's just what was going through my mind at the time.

Dude if you could make a plastic tube and some couplers I would've totally bought one from you if it was under $100...i'm sure i'm not the only one.

That's why I didn't buy a $300 intake either. $75 on ebay got everything I needed and it's 100% as functional as any name brand short of the AirHammer. I agree that its gradual taper is probably superior to any pipe. For the money savings, I'll keep the one I got. My intake is polished aluminum and it did come with a heat shield.

And who knows, I may decide to make something for sale later on. I own a business so the structure is in place already.

I really want to get the Ram Hammer but I really like driving through big puddles I go through a creek pretty often thats about 2 1/2 ft deep and would hate to hydrolock my motor.
