Default Fluid Consumption

I know that it is normal for an engine to consume some amount of oil. My question is, is this also the case with transmissions ? I just put about 3/4 of a quart in after 42,200 miles. This may seem to be a stupid question, but my tranny knowledge is very very limited. Thanks !

Has it ever been changed? Maybe it wasn't topped off.

It was full last time I checked it awhile back. No, it hasnt been changed yet. Book says change at 60,000 but Im doing it at 50,000. As far as the mileage on it, the Lifetime Powertrain and unlimited mileage warranty was one of the reasons I bought this truck. I like the truck but cant wait till that $49,000 09 Hemi I want starts dropping in price.

my durango ate up tranny fluid like crazy. did for the longest time too, but could never find a leak. and having that thing just an 1/8th of a quart low made it go haywire. finally after a few months a leak did appear at the main seal. kinda blew my mind. but then again, that thing had 160k on it.
