The only problem with that is those air cleaners are very small so lack of air could be a problem. Also, they suck up Hot air where as the side mounts allow cold air to be sucked in.

What did you have to do to mount it up? I'm guessing you found some kind of TB elbow to mount the air cleaner to?

for starters i was gunna do a tear down and re-install but it was like -10F with wind chill so.. i did my best.

this is for the 318/360 magnum engines.

first remove stock air intake tube and air box. creating massive amount of room in your engine compartment!yay

ok started out with the air filter, found it at napa. didnt want to wait to order it but jegs/ summit has it a bit cheaper. holley pn: 120-145. its an odd size too at 10" but fit perfectly!
the 14" air cleaners are too big so dont even try. (found out the hard way)

i got a long enough piece of threaded rod so if i messed up i would have left overs.
1ft. plated 1/4" dia. napa p/n: 813-5433

cut the rod in half, and put a 1" offset bend in it like an "s" curve. the guy at napa said i would have to heat up the rod really good to bend it or it would snap, but it was EASILY bent by hand, i used a floor jack handle and stuck one end of the rod in the handle and used pliars on the other end of the rod.
note: be careful not to mess up the threads on the ends of the piece your going to use.

after this step its easy goin.
place the bottom plate of the air hat on the throttle body. it fits perfectly inside the TB very snug.
then the filter.
then take your nicely bent rod and thread one end into the pre-threaded hole on your throttle body. (it doesnt need to be tightened down, just a couple of turns will do)

then place the top of the air hat on. if you have alot of extra rod sticking through the top the mark it and cut some off, you only need just a lil bit sticking through the lid, 1/2" or less.
put the fancy hold down nut on there and your ready to go.

oh and the vent tube from the valve cover to the intake can be installed on the new air hat but i didnt like the way it it fit so i removed the tube and got one of those little tiny cone filters from autozone and stuck it on the vent.

OPTIONAL: put the cool stickers that come with the air hat somewhere.

easy enough. any questions? i feel like i forgot somthing.
