Default Flowmaster Super 44 concern..

Hi all,

I've been looking around this evening for an answer and can't seem to find anything solid and was hoping somebody could help.

I was given a Super 44 single 2.5 in/out (part# 942548) as an early Christmas gift. I wasn't expecting to get it so I looked up some information on Flowmaster's website about this particular muffler and noticed that they didn't list my truck as being a vehicle that can use this muffler. In fact there isn't a single dodge listed. I find this rather odd but I can't find any evidence to say this muffler will actually fit.

So my question is, will this be an acceptable replacement of my stock muffler? If not, are there adapters to make this muffler fit or should I return the gift? I have an 04 Ram 1500 5.7 4x4 with complete stock single exhaust system. My plan is to keep the stock pipes and have a muffler shop install this. I would also like to have the resonator chopped off as well.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The factory exhaust is 3"...you could try expanding the mufflers inlet/oulet at an exhuast shop but it would be easier to just exchange it

get under and measure it yourself, mine was 2 1/2 inch pipe, but ive got a 4.7 so I cant say for sure with a 5.7

you CANNOT strech a half inch out of pipe, but you can buy adapters from almost any parts store pretty cheap (less than $10)

If you are having an exhaust shop do it, a good shop would HAVE the adapters in stock, as well as extra pipe.

i got flowmaster 40 delta and i had shop do install on my truck. the shop did extend the inlet and outlet to 3 inches. It can replace your stock muffler. If you want lowest drone with flowmaster then move the move the muffler the farthest from the cab as possible as u can.

I dont mind the drone.

Oh yea you can...half inch isn't much when stretching the whole diameter of the pipe. The adapter will work too but stretching will be a cleaner looking weld/install....I still vote for getting a different one though.

You are 1/2 way there. Get another 44, hook up right after the cats & 02's (2 1/2" pipe there I pretty sure) and run true duals. The 2 1/2" will work fine then. A good muffler shop can run it anywhere you want from there. Lot of folks dump them.

I have this set up with super 40's and Gibson tips in front of both rears.

How'd you get it in front of both rear tires? I was wanting to do that setup, but couldn't, because the gas tank was in the way.

Just exchange it for the right size muffler. And don't worry about the Super 44 not being listed for the Ram on the Flowmaster site. I had the 50 HD which is listed for the Ram and it stunk. I would never put that muffler on another one of my trucks.
