Default 6 speed 2500 hemi

Two questions for you folks:

1. Is the 6 speed that is put behind the Hemi in the 3rd gen 2500's a NV5600? In other words, did they use the same 6 speed with the gas as with the diesel?

2. Do the 2006 and newer 2500's with manual transmissions also come with MDS? Or, was the MDS only available with the automatics?

Thanks!

I can't answer #1 off the top of my head.

But for #2, the 2500 has never been offered with MDS in either a manual transmission or an automatic. It's strictly used on all 1500s except the MegaCab model...

Not saying everything on the internet is accurate, but I've read that starting in '06, MDS was also available on the 2500 and 3500.:

Never said "I" knew the answer did I? There is lots of wrong info on the net and I'm just trying to get verification of what the correct answer is.

#1)---No it's not the NV5600-----it's the G-56 Mercedes out of the commercial truck line. It's rock solid and almost indestructible. It's not for any sort of speed shifting!!!
All the gears are synchro'd--even reverse, and granny. I've got 92K on mine with absolutely no problems.

Gone Fishin i is correct with reference to #1. The 6-speed in the 1500 features a "normal" first gear, in the 2500, the first gear is a granny gear that you'd typically only use when hauling or towing a significant load.

So, was the G-56 used with all Hemi powered trucks since '03?
