Default 3 questions.

1. I have had my cai for about 4 months now, about 2k miles and i think i might need to reset my comp. When i start the truck, anytime, any weather, after its been sitting for more than 10 minutes, the cai sucks in a mass amount of for about a good 5 mins. It sounds exactly like when im on the throttle at about 1/2 throttle. Is this normal or has my cpu not reset after this time? Its a k and n, and remember it does not do it when i start it again after sooner than 10 mins.

2. I have subs under the rear seat, they are the whimpy kicker c10's and i have kicker 1600w amp pushing them. They are way over powered and sound like whimpy at any power level(they only run 150 rms) My question is what is the best sounding 10" speaker for the regular box that goes under the rear qc seat in the storage bins? I know there is only certain speakers that will fit due to minimal mounting depth.

3. I am leaving soon to go to bct and than ait, i will be gone for about 6 months and as im gone the truck will sit in driveway under car cover. What kinda of schedule should i put the ole ball and chain to keep the truck in good condition. She drives an infinity and hates the big noisy truck. should i just have her start it once a week and let it run for about 10 mins?

Thanks you guys! And no i didnt get my tires for christmas believe me i threw a big fit but she says i dont need them cause im leaving BS if you ask me! Ill just have to take a picture of dodgenittos truck with me to satisfy me

1. I believe there was a thread early this week or last about CAI and High idle when started cold. Its normal for the truck to idle a little higher when cold and shortly fall back down to normal idle.

2. I have two 10" JL w3's and think they sound great on all types of music. I am pushing them with a 1600watt boss amp, tuned down. The subs are not so loud you feel it outside the truck, but sound good in the cab. Depending on what type of music you listen to, there are certain frequency responses that you won't notice if you had more air space (that is the key killer with the premade boxes for the QC Ram). I would still recomend the JL's.

Every time I've deployed to Iraq or done a tour in Korea my truck had to sit at the folks house for a year+ at a time just like it is right now. Lucky for me they have a barn that it gets parked in to protect it so I don't really know much about car covers. I do change the fluids before I leave and my Dad starts it once a week and will let it run until it reaches normal operating temp. I call the bank and get permission to have it put on a storage plan for insurance, and then my insurance company gets the mileage and puts me under their storage plan. costs me around $150 for 6 months but it can not be driven while under this plan. When I get home i'll do a good PMCS. Check for any problems and change the fluids again and have the insurance set back to normal. So far I've never had any problems after I start driving it again. May be over kill with the fluids but I would rather be safe, I already spent a year in Hell just to buy this truck so its my baby. plus with the money I save while deployed and with the insurance on a storage plan It's not much of a set back.
Hope that helps,

SGT H.

#1 - It may be that you are hearing the added air that is sucked in when the EGR valve opens. This will happen after it's been idling a few minutes. You should not have to reset the PCM when you add a CAI. The PCM will adjust for what the air sensors tell it whether it's reset or not.
#2 - I'm too old & too many years removed from doing my own systems to be of any help on this one.
#3 - Letting a vehicle sit without running is not as critical as it was back in the days of carbs. Keep the gas tank at about 1/4 tank and add the proper amount of Stabil, to keep the gas good. Run the truck a few minutes to get the treated gas through the engine. Now you can probably have her just crank it about every month, and run it enough to keep a charge on the battery you should be good to go.

I also have a JL Audio W3 and it sounds pretty damn good considering it is in a truck and in such a small location.

Hopefully a pic will get you by. Best of luck!!!

I wouldn't put a cover over it outside. That's worse than just leaving it exposed to the natural elements as you would if you were driving it everyday. When you cover your vehicle and it's outside, the wind will move the cover around if not constantly flap it against the paint and either rub a few spots down and scuff up the clear coat or trap blowing leaves and trap moisture. Also, most covers go down really low which traps moiture under the vehicle. Never a good thing. You need the wind under there to dry things out.
Also, never park your vehicle on grass for extended periods of time as the grass holds moisture and will rot the undercarriage out rather quickly.

I have 2 Infinity Perfect 10's and they sound awesome, however most really good subs are going to be too deep for any pre-made sub enclosure. I had to make my own enclosure for my subs to fit. JL has a Stealth box for one 10 that will probably sound better thn your 2 10's but I don't know what they put in themn if it's a weak w0 or if it's in fact a w3?
Good luck at BTC, it's all a mind game and is nothing like it used to be so it's not really that bad. AIT is fun.

Yeah, I agree 100%. Unless you spend top $ on a cover that allows the free flow of air, but does not allow water to penetrate, kinda like Gore-Tex does, it's never a good idea to cover the vehicle. Best to find a shady spot that's on cement and leave it there. Under a tree would be my last choice, but probably better than in the direct sun. You'll just have to resolve yourself to giving up a day to wash it and get all the sap & crap off it when you get home...

CAI,..noise is normal. you have to remember that your stock intake has muffelers/baffels in it to fit into the customer friendly db ratings which judging by your taste in audio you could care less for it. however if you do want to reset your pcm it's fuse #23. pull it turn your ignition all the way as if you were starting it..pray nothing happens except a few dings like you left your lights on and then turn off the ignition and put the fuse back in. If i were a dodge mechanic i would charge you about 40-60 an hour to do that..jk
