Early christmas present for me was a tint job. 5% on the rear passenger and back window, 35% on the fronts, and a 5% windshield banner, all for $175. This is from a very reputable shop, with a lifetime warranty against bubbling, fading, turning "purple", etc.

So, I have to agree on both ends, $300 is a rip, $100 is too good to be true.....

How did they do that? The factory tint is Inside the glass not on the outside like they do. You would have to have all new untinted glass for that to happen. They simply just tint over the already tinted glass. 5% is just too dark for me. You cannot see backing up or even see out of the windows at night on a dark street. 20% is plenty dark enough all around. After sunset you can barely see inside.

Only thing id' rethink is how dark you really want it. Id try another shop. Ive had multiple tints and i end up paying 200$-250. My 99 maxima which has alot of glass and tricky quarter windows was still under 300 and it has a lifetime warrenty. 15% tint is still really easy to see out and is perfect. 20% is not worth the money in my opionion. Its not that much of a change.

I put 20% on my back window, and 35% on the front door, but Im thinking in the spring the fronts are going to 20% or darker, and the back doors might get some 35% on them

WHAT?
Take a look at my truck in my Sig. The back windows are factory tinted at 18-20%. You cannot even see in them unless you get super close in the middle of the day. Forget about seeing in there at dusk or even night time.
I have had a lot of cars in my time. 20% all around will be as dark as anyone needs and still be able to see where the heck they are going at night when they are backing out of a dark street or driveway or parking spot. You cannot see inside an all around 20% tint after the sun sets. During the day, you can see outlines and that's it. I think anything past that is overkill and around here in NY is asking for a ticket.

I guess living in hotter states makes it cheaper. I paid $135 to have all my cap windows done 5%, and my 4 doors 20% over the stock tint.

Oh yeah, I paid the extra $25 to get the heat repellent tint. Oh yeah, another thing, this was a mobile service, so I had the work done in my driveway. Not bad for $135.00. One more thing, I got the lifetime warranty too.
