Stripped lugnut, need help.
I have a 2007 ram and one lugnut is stripped and its still on the stud and it wont loosen or tighten. Any advice to get this off will help me out alot. Thanks in advance.
need clarification here, the LUGNUT is turning? like the stud is striped?
or is the cap on the lugnut turning?
or is the LUGNUT rounded off, and your socket is spinning on it?
If its a rounded off lugnut, you can go to a tool store and get special sockets for rounded off nuts, I have one from MAC tools called an "edge" socket. It grabs on the flat parts of a nut instead of the points of it

We got the darn thing off. Hey thanks for all your help. The inside of the lugnut & the stud were both stripped. The tire shop stripped the lugnuts when they installed the new rims. Now I have to buy a new stud or set of them. I might have to buy a new axle. Dont know yet. Thanks again.
I just left the a Dodge dealer where I have my 2007 Ram serviced to the T. I even have them fill out the little service book. They didn't tighten all or any of the lugnuts on the rear driver side tire( rotated tires). I drove about half a mile down the road and heard a crazy noise and it came to a slow. Pulled over and looked back to see my tire barely hanging on. Rotor never touched but 20" chrome wheel is severly scratched. studs are stripped up and the caliper cables seemed a little stretched.......I am so mad. After a phone call. The owner drove up and introduced himself and said he would take care of it. I thought that was nice. I told him I am just worried that it wont get completly fixed and it will linger. He assured me he would make sure it gets taken care of.
Any advice or things I need to look for on Friday when they tell me what they are going to do.........................could the transmission be messed up? rear end? rotor? caliper?

All is well - dealer replaced chrome wheel (630 bucks) and put a new rotor on it and balanced the tire.....drove great - and took it 100 on the way home to break in the new mobile 1 5w-20 and new air filter!!!!!
Dealer was great, apologetic, nice and very fast. They had me out the door in 30 min this morning and even had to have the rim picked up 30 miles away EARLY this am.
I'm buying my next car from them.
