Default Shocks, Shocks, or Shocks?

Who's shocks to retrofit with? New poster here....hoping for help.

At 28k, I've got some cupping on my OEM HP's, even though it looks like I might get another 10 - 15k out of them.

About 10% of the time I tow a 5200 lb. 30' travel trailer with an Equalizer brand weight distributing hitch. Works great. The balance, it's just a street truck. Only mod is a 1.25" Belltech drop shackle to level out.

My objective is to improve control of the wheels with aftermarket shocks. I purchased the 1/2 ton specifically for the IFS and its ride quality, and I'm working hard not to compromise that.

I've had good luck with KYB Gas Adjust in the past. It appears that although their now Monomax is beefier, it actually provides a better ride at slow speed/low shock travel due to new valve technology.

Gabriel claims the same however, with their Max Control or RMX design as sold through Les Schwab. The local manager for LS says he's installed many Gabriel RMS units specifically for my application, and is sure I'll like them better than the KYB's.

I'd like to tap into any experience that I can here, and learn about any that have installed either brand, how they ride and/or control unsprung wheel weight.

Thanks....

Mine have started cupping on the outside @ 6500 miles. Might be a tow-in issue, I need to get to the dealer and have it checked. It's not bad, but noticeable. I just rotated them the other day.
I put Rancho RS5000's on my 01 F150 and they worked good. They trruck never cupped the tires.

The tech at Big O Tires today suggests Bilsteins over KYB in my application. Says they are smoother on the highway, yet still react with improved/quicker dampening at higher travel rate/velocity as needed.

I've read many posters here who seem to like the Bilsteins. Any with a 3rd Generation Ram 1500 that can describe the ride after retrofitting Bilsteins?

I have bilsteins on mine, its like night and day as fas as how different they are from the OEM ones. www.eshocks.com probably has the bilsteins alot cheaper then most anywhere you can find them. Thats where I got mines form. Good luck in whatever you pick!
