V6<V8 Swap?
What would it take to put the 5.7 Hemi into a V6 single cab 08 1500?
I would assume it would take the Hemi Engine, wiring harness?, and either an automatic trans swap or the standard transmission out of the ram 2500?
The 4.7 is basically the same thing as the 3.7 with two chopped cylinders, right? Would this swap be more straight forward? Or would the transmission still need to be changed out?
I have got a good feeling that the regular boltons provided by the aftermarket for the V6 are not going to suit my needs, but they may. I saw someone made a supercharger for the 3.7 awhile back, but they didnt make many of them for some reason?
I am just inquiring on getting a little (well, alot) more power either into or out of my truck.
I am not stupid enough to even attempt this at the moment, I am just wondering if it is possible. Wait about 5 years when my warranty goes out, then its a possibility, provided the funds are there.

Well the tranny will have to be swapped too (V6 Specific transmission), and the PCBM will have to be replaced or reprogrammed..... And I am sure other things will have to be tweeked too.
It would be cheaper to put a stong blower (300 HP+) on the V6 and you would get more horse power out of it.

not true, the cost of a blower on the v6 would cost more than buying a 5.7L hemi. ( ive looked into it ). So im leaving my v6 with an intake full exhaust headers back, a chip and cam.. its good enough a blower ur looking at over 4000$
hate to be the baron of bad news, but if your after real performance, don't do it with your late model truck that you are going to be paying for for the next 5 years or more. anything more than a bolt on cheap mod is pretty much a waste, because it is still 6,000 pounds of plastic. I agree that muscle trucks are really cool, and if I was to do one, I would pick a second gen dodge with a 360, or even swap in a carbed 440. That would be roughly the same price (depending on how handy you are), and you wouldn't ruin your daily driver.

The mounts would need to be replace, trans., I believe you could reprogram the computer not sure... I have thought about the same thing on my 2001 v6 3.9 man. trans. I love that truck... so I know how you feel there is just something about it that makes me smile. I just brought a 2001 5.9 4x4 for my need for more power, I would just wait to get a new truck if I were you or change your trany to a man. more power fun to drive... throw on some pipes and a cold air intake for a few extra horse power and smile.

basically, everyone in here is hinting on the same notions as i originally did (especially whoever mentioned the throwing a 350 in there)...
if u wanna do something with your truck, DO SOMETHING with it. as soon as this damn thing's paid off in another two years, it's gonna be a quarter mile monster. it was the original idea with my z28l...but i'm gonna leave that baby as is, and turn my pickup into something ridiculous and not even drivable...make it a dragtruck only...and i wanna throw a 409 and go nuts....and this way, i could still keep my z28 as a driver. and also, my truck will be replaced with an s8...cause, they're badass and powerful and classy and roomy all at the same time.
basically, if you're looking to throw a 4.7 or even a hemi...why? that cost alone would be more than throwing a build-up-to-all-hell 350 or 454 in that badboy. you'll get better results and lead to a truly unique truck. so, if you're not gonna throw a "goofy" v8 in there, why do it?
