Default Bah!!! Front hub replacement time. Have question

Yesterday my driverside front hub started making a "whirring" sound while driving. Ive had hubs go bad on my other vehicles and im 98% sure its the hub. I went to my local Pep Boys and the hub is 230.00$ . But, The guy was telling me that they only list a part # for 2 wheel ABS. As far as I know, I have 4 wheel ABS. This is directly off my build sheet (4 Wheel Disc Rr Anti-Lock Brakes) Any suggestions?

Thanks, Toe

Found mine on ebay from other dealers for ~$120 shipped. Had both with or without front ABS. I think the hubs are the same for 2wd and 4wd, but someone else may know for sure.

1st, raise the vehicle up, and listen to both sides with a long screwdriver to make sure you know which side the noise is coming from, cause sometime it can sound like the outer bearing on the left side, when really its the inner bearing on the right side.

so after you get that figured out...

Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
Remove the brake caliper and rotor.
Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor.
Remove the halfshaft nut. NOTE: Do not strike the knuckle with a hammer to remove the tie rod end or the ball joint. Damage to the steering knuckle will occur.
Remove the tie rod end nut and separate the tie rod from the knuckle.
Remove the upper ball joint nut and separate the upper ball joint from the knuckle.
Pull down on the steering knuckle to separate the halfshaft from the hub/bearing.
Remove the three hub/bearing mounting bolts from the steering knuckle.
Slide the hub/bearing out of the steering knuckle.
Remove the brake dust shield.

To install-
Install the brake dust shield.
Install the hub/bearing into the steering knuckle and tighten the bolts.
Install the brake rotor and caliper.
Install the ABS wheel speed sensor.
Install the upper ball joint nut to the steering knuckle and tighten to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) (on 1500 series only an additional 90°turn) .
Install the tie rod end nut to the steering knuckle and tighten to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) then an additional 90° .
Install the halfshaft nut and tighten to 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.) .
Install the wheel and tire assembly.
Remove the support and lower vehicle.

hope it helps

check your hub. There are two types. one has a plug on it and the other does not.

NAPA just quoted me $470 for the right front bearing assembly on my 2500 4X4! I guess I've got to get some of my plowing bills sent out. If someone knows of a cheaper price, please let me know. This will be the third time doing this side. I miss old style hubs and servicable bearings and wish Dodge did not follow GM on putting these junk sealed units in.

You can remove the ABS sensor and grease the bearing through the sensor hole. May not work if you've already ruined the bearing, but you can keep the new one from running dry by maintaining it this way.

As far as I know, I have 4 wheel ABS. This is directly off my build sheet (4 Wheel Disc Rr Anti-Lock Brakes)

tht last line states; 4 wheel disc brakes, rear anti-lock brakes.

i thought i had 4 wheel antilock brakes too until i locked them up and only the front tires flat spotted....just after buying new BFGs the day before. but the rear end didnt come around, stayed in the lane, which is good...i guess.
