powersteering clamp pics please
Mine had the leak also. Put the clamp on and that stopped the leak for a few days. Then it started again....took the clamp and hose off, cleaned everything up and reattached the hose with the clamp and it has not leaked a drop since.
I discovered a leak on my 02 4x4 and after crawling under the truck looks to be the same thing. OSUFANS.. Nice picture to show how you placed the new clamp. So, while I was under the truck, I found it difficult getting one had around the hose to inspect. Any tricks to how you got both hands in to add the new clamp? If I take off the hose to clean like Ray97..do I need to bleed the power steering? Any other hints?
I undid the clamp all the way, put around the hose, and tightened it up. mine is lifted, i was able to sit under there between the bumper and radiator and reach up. had to really crank down the hose clamp though. oh, I degreased everything first though. its been two weeks since i did it, it only took about 5 minutes and the leak is gone now.
To get mine on since it wasn't lifted, I got up in there, and put my hand on the hose with the clamp opened up. As it was then hard, I layed down and tried to look at the clamp. Being hard to reach, you just have to find a way to get the other hand in there to tighten up the clamp and then you can maneuver yourself in there to however you can see it best. It's a real awkward place to get in and put that clamp on.
it sure helped me, thanks for starting this thread. the dealer wanted $251 to replace the hoses when my truck was in for some warranty work. I had the clamp already, so it cost me nothing more than five minutes. the how-to's in this forum are awesome!
I have the 2005 quad cab ram 1500 with 40k miles, 3 mos ago it was leaking radiator fluid so they replaced the radiator. Then it started leaking powersteering fluid so they relaced 2 of the hoses. I still have a leak and can't figure out where its coming from. i too have a small puddle on the driveway and when I look for the leak I see fluid on the boots and on the hoses and on the bottom of the engine etc. I'm mechanically inclined but I'm not very familiar with this.
can someone make any suggestions?
