295, 305 or 315...whats the real story?!

Default 295, 305 or 315...whats the real story?!

Ok, so after posting a few threads here about tire size I gathered that I can fit a 295 on my 04 Ram 1500 QC 4x4 with a TGC front leveling kit. However, after visiting my local Truckin' American (crooks! the wanted 250 for a leveling kit!!!) they said that with a front leveling kit I could fit 315's. So whats the real story? What is the biggest tire I can go with without rubbing while still using my stock 17x8 wheels. Please, give me some good advice. Thanks!

with a 6" suspension lift and the proper backspacing, you can fit 315's. any less of a lift or not enough backspacing, and I would imagine you would be rubbing. Thats the only lift I have really researched..... check the "sticky" posts at the top of the page, its probably broken down a bit more in one of those...

I'm thought I read here that you can fit 315s without any kind of modification..maybe I'm wrong?

sure, i'll bet you can stuff 315's under there somehow with no modifications...as far as driveability? With my lift, I have no rubbing and have full range of movement. I'll stop here just in case i'm wrong, but I can't see how they could fit on a stock 1500.....

I have a 2.4" leveling kit and am using a 305-55-20 and it rubs just a lil on the plastic inside the fender when i turn left really sharp, not at all when i turn right.

If it is just a little you may be able to wedge a piece of 2x4 in there when you turn the wheel. Then use a little heat to warm the plastic. Then let cool and remove the 2x4. If you do this be VERY careful to not make a fire.

I don't know much about 295 or 315 but 35's will fit with a 2 kit and 1/4 spacers they will actually fit with out the spacer but the tire rubs just the slightest bit.

+1 I used a heat gun to remold my wheel wells on the front and I have no rubbing at full turn or full travel! Problem solved.

Did you use the same method of using a block of wood in between the tire? And what kind of shocks did you upgrade to if any?
