Well, I just got a call from a buddy of mine that just finished getting charged with a Class 3 misdemeanor for the factory tint on the back windows. Virginia law is 35% and the factory tint is illegal apparently. Some local cop pulled him because a brake light was out and then proceeded to issue a ticket for his tint. I was like WTF??? Now I'm all worried because I have the factory tint as well. Anybody else have problems because of their factory tint???

 

My understanding is that you can paint your rear windows with black paint and they cant do a thing. Its only the windshield and front side windows that have legal limits.

 

If you have left and right mirrors they can go screw themselves

 

Yeah that cop must be a rookie jack a*s because he has no idea what he is doing your back windows can be blacked out and they cant say jack sh*t.

 

you can black out the back windows, its just like a cargo van with solid rear doors. its legal as long as you have mirrors, and there are different laws for tint on front windows, like the first replies said. sounds like unneccessary harrassment i guess...

 

Fight that ticket as long as the windshield and drivers and passengers windows arent tinted you could have the back ones as dark as you want! Factory tint is not illegal or the car companies couldnt offer it!

 

yea I'm sure he's going to fight the ticket. He said it was a violation of the city code but since he doesn't live in the city he's going to argue that state law permits him to have tint. still, the whole concept is pretty silly to me...it was factory tint for crying out loud...you can still see through it pretty easy!! lol

If ya got a cool doctor like mine ask and he can give you a perscription for tint. Side windows are illegal in Michigan but you can tint rear three dark as you like.

 

man va police.. i got pulled over for once doing 2 mph over the speed limit, and thats because i passed a cop, because he kept speeding up, then slowing way down.

then i got a wreckless speeding charge that was later bumped down to "improper" by a va cop who ran my friend and I off the road and put the lives of everyone riding with us in danger. wont even go into that one.

you couldnt pay me to live in the state of Va.

check your local law, here in MD the rear window can be as dark as you want, and 35 for the rest
