i agree with the va laws being BS. My iwfe was pulled over in va for the tint thing. got a ticket too. it was factory tint on the front windows!! the troopers are real aholes. ive heard it from more than many. ive also heard, and this may be wrong, that the troopers are mostly ex militia. radar detectors are illegal in va too. glad we moved out of that facist state.

I wonder if some of the troopers wake up and decide every day that they want to make peoples lives hard.

This isn't true in a lot of states. VA is 50/35/35, meaning 50% on front, 35% on rear sides and back.

In other states likes AZ, the rear side and back are not regulated. I count 17 states which allow anything on the rear.

Check out the following link, which shows the allowable percentage state by state:

yeah, they have radar detector detectors and laser detector detectors. they'll confiscate them on site if they are plugged into a power source on top of a hefty ticket.

I’m in Connecticut, and the back window can be as dark as you want, the sides can be, I think the actual number is 32%, unless you have a truck, van, or suv, then the rear windows can be as dark as you want.

I thought when it came to vehicle mods, CT would be pretty strict, but it appears that it is practically modder’s paradise compared to some states (not counting the obvious CA) by what I have read from some people on this site. It seems to me, as long as you don’t do anything to draw attention to yourself cops in CT don’t really care. I’ve lost count of how many vehicles I’ve seen with 5% tints all around, obvious illegal HID’s, loud exhausts, systems that you can hear 5 blocks away, etc. There’s no inspection unless you’re trying to register a custom built vehicle. And the emissions test is apparently not too hard to pass because I know someone who has a 92 Mustang, with a completely rebuilt engine, long tube headers, no cats, straight pipes and he passed, although it was just barely. I have 20% tints all around, with a 35% strip on the windshield, and I have an exhaust cutout. And I've had no problems with cops, state or local (knock on wood).

Yep AZ only cares about your front windows, It would really suck here during the summer without tinted windows... But my truck came stock tinted all around. The question I have is if you drove up to visit a friend or family member in one of the states that dont allow window tints at all if you would still get a citation eventhough its legal where you are from....
