wow this got out of hand for some reason. i didnt get my truck to care about mpgs at all. i could really care less what im getting. i dont do any mods to my truck hoping to get more mpgs either but if mor empg is a side affect then i geuss thats great. my 4.7l averages 14-15 but she isnt driven like grandpa or even my dad. shes gets her fair share of wot everytime shes on the road. 6hemiram said it best F gas mileage, its the one thing that drives me crazy here is when i see if i get headers, cams and cai am i going o get better gas mileage???? damnit now you got me ranting. haha

My one buddy has a2007 reg cab 4.7 4x4 with the 6-speed with 235hp, and another has a quad cab hemi 2007. The hemi beat it by about a truck length and half. It has a lot to with gearing cuz my buddys 6speed has a lot lower gears then mine.

For example the autos shift at about 80-85? I can run my 3rd gear out to about 92 till fuel cutoff.

I would like to hear his opinin on this since he is the 4.7 expert. But I doubt that will be for a while since last I heard his is currently deployed overseas.

I have driven an 09 HEMI just got back from hauling a double axle with a rhino fully loaded and 3 dog boxes with 10 dogs food hunting gear 2-5 gallon gas cans coolers with a 1500 hemi 4x4 and it average 9.3 mpg doing 80 mph to texas over 560 miles
my dad has one as a demo for his dodge dealership and it did good we raced on the highway on a previous trip and it pulled the same in first but its second gear was way better and he started to continually edge out ahead

i would have to say they are very nice trucks and we passed a couple of nice trucks and every one slowed down to check they 1500 09 ram blowing by with a full load and i have the coil over in the rear is one of the nicest things ever some of you might think you have a nice quality of ride but hands down it is the best ride for a truck out there it puts my 04 to shame and the 08 he drove before that to shame in ride quality and the quality wasnt even comprimised when he was fully loaded down it still rode smooth as a pretty ladies breast i had to say i was truly impressed but they do pull good and didnt lag to much at all while pulling up hills great package i know what i am getting in about 5 years used an 09!!

i agree, but how much of a hit would someone take if they went to trade in their 4.7 for a comparably loaded truck with a 5.7?

and his truck is FASTER than a hemi (so he says). his QC supposedly keeps up with RC hemis. that's pretty damn good if it's true.
