Are you talking about just removing one leaf?

In theory, the overload won't kick in until you have enough load to engage it. If you look at it, it should only be touching the rest of the spring pack at the axle (until load is put on it). So, your ride shouldn't be affected with it out.

It would lower it but only the thickness of the spring. I was thinking about taking one out as well so if you do deside to do it measure if first and then measure it after and tell us what you came up with.

Yes it is safe. does not effect handling. you just wont be able to carry a heavy load with out it squatting. But I took the overload out of my 06 ram about a month before i decided to do a flip kit. Removing the overload only lowered it a half of an inch which is around the thickness of the spring. Those shackles are not worth the money if you ask me. If it was the really short shackle style then i think they only lower the truck 1.5 inches. The only thing they are good for is lowering the truck to a total of 6 inches after you do a flip kit. hope i helped

no it will still sit up higher in the back. it will only lower it about a half of an inch. to get it level you will need at least 2 inches or more i believe.
