Default Prepping to do the spark plug change, 05 v8 ram

Any recommendations - i checked the DIY sticky but didnt see it;

I was curious about setting the spark plug - do i just buy the calipers and set accordingly

I'm an internet mechanic, meaning, i can do anything just about myself, i just need good instructions/research

I did the spark plug change on my 2001 v8 ram, but only remmeber it being 8 plugs, not the 16 that ppl have said the 05's are....unless my memory is bad.

Last time i did it, i didnt even use calipers i just bought the plugs and stuck them in the 08, not sure how dangerous this was.....traded about a year later for the 05, with no problems in between.

Any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated.....i have a cold air intake on there, which i don't mind taking off if its easier to get to the plugs

The back ones are a bi*ch! Took me about an hour and a half, three cuts and a boat load of cussing. I ain't no mechanic by trade, but my father & uncle were and I grew up around motors. Used to be, I only paid for differential work (too tricky) and transmission fluid changes here recently (not hard, just too damn messy). But I'm seriously thinking about paying the money to have it done at 60k...

The plugs should NOT be torqued (tightened) to more than 15 ft/lbs. This is from the FSM. A 5/8" swivel plug socket makes the job much easier, then all you should need is some silicone grease, a short extension and a 3/8" rachet. Also a 10mm(?) socket for the air resonator and the coil packs. A little anti-seize--the copper kind is best for heat applications. Apply the silicone grease to the inside of the boots when you're reinstalling each plug. Also, the FSM calls out that the plug wires MUST remain in the original loom configuration when you're done, but when I've done them, the wires never needed to be removed from the looms. Also, use the anti-seize sparingly. A little goes a long way.
