Question DVD Player for the RAM

I am looking into putting a DVD player into the ol' Dodge for the kids. I have looked at the ones that replace the headrest and the ones that mount up on the headliner. Any of you have them in your truck? Which one would you buy? Is one better than the other?

Some of the ones I've seen in the headliner seem to get in the way of the rear view mirror. It shouldn't discount them, but just be aware and ask the installer about it. Maybe you can simulate it by taping a piece of cardboard the same size in the location it will be and sit in the drivers seat to see if it interferes with your view. Either way, make sure you see work your installer has done before to make sure it's professional. Nothing like having tons of work done and being upset with the results... I would be pissed if they cut into my headliner or seats and screwed them up!

Well it really depends on several factors I suppose. How many kids do you have? 2 kids I would recommend the headrest setup that way the rear view mirror dilemma is non existand. However 3 kids would require the flip down. I have tried the 2 headrest method and when I was sitting in the back it seemed weird to have to look over at a smaller screen. If it were my truck I would recommend a larger flip down unit like 10"+ setup that way everyone can see it without squinting. Not having a rear view mirror is no biggy to me at all the tint on my canopy windows blokc most vision anways so not having a mirror is no huge deal.

A portable one plugged into one of the many powerpoints in the truck that can be removed when not needed and not stolen by a common thief while parked.

Yep, got 2 of these. Only come out when I go on trips. $50 for each DVD player and $25 each for a the storage bag that hangs off the back of the headrest. Takes about 2 minutes to put in and take out and they are out of the way.

My 3 yr old gets his Spongebob and my teen daughter gets her goofy chick movies. I also got DVD players with a aux jack and she can hook up her Gamecube on road trips.

I use the portable one as well, I have been thinking about getting one for each kid (3), that way i dont have to cut up my truck. They seem to like it.

+1 on the portables. Believe it or not you can get one of these at Fry's grocery stores for like 30 bucks, lol.

You ain't kidding on the sticky fingered losers out there. I grew up in a neighborhood in Pa that we would leave everything unlocked and the worse thing you had to worry about was a friend going into your car for your cigarettes. Since I moved to Florida, (minus my Ram) every car I have had has been broken into. The funny thing is that the dumbest stuff is taken. Never anything in the front seat, everything in the backseat is taken.
