So do you think that the pros and cons of each controller outweigh each other, making them equal? If so should I just go with the cheapest one that I can find?

Thanks for the help!

Does your truck have a tow package now? Mine didnt not from the dealer and when i went to look at a hitch/electric brakes .....they quoted me a price. When i went back to get the work done, it took them twice as long because my truck had no harness for the Prodigy Harness to connect into. It was a mess the Installer said.

But, i towed one time w/o the Prodigy and i didnt like how much i had to apply the Brakes for the truck and trailer to stop. Trailer with car is about 4500lbs.

My dad has the Time delay on his 2500, He tows about 8000lbs max. I do not like his compared to mine. If hes going down hill and hitting the brake, the trailer will lock up instead of easing the brakes on. Even backing up sometime it will lock the brakes. Its just way too touchy.

For the few bucks more, just get the Prodigy...you will be happy with it.

Absolutely not. Proportional is far superior and much safer, less wear and tear and applies the same pressure of stopping power in relation to the brake pedal. None of this slightly touching the brakes on the truck and the trailer gets full brakes. Personallly, I think time delay controllers should be outlawed. I found this article. I think you'll be sold

I agree with the others. My old controller was a timed delay, and I could never find a happy medium with the adjustment. Either too much trailer brake or not enough. I now have a proportional and love it.

I do have the towing package, and I think because of that there is the plug for the controller under the steering column already. And if this is the case (and I'm pretty sure) then I will install the controller myself. Where did you guys have your controllers mounted?

Right now I'm pretty sure I'll get the proportional controller even if it is a little more. I really want to have smooth, safe breaking.

I've got mine by my left knee. I saw somebody else that had it mounted in the dash cutout under the radio.

And also where you have it mounted, does it get in your way?

Right knee, easy to see and access the manual slider...I will never go back to time delay for same reason as Cup Fan.
