Default Has anyone tried this Cold Air Intake kit?

Looking to bump up the horsepower of my 2008 Hemi Ram 1500 Quad Cab and figured a cold air intake would be a simple bolt-on hop-up that would give a little extra hp and help the engine run better. It seems that K&N filters intake kit is about $330, I found this on ebay and wondered if anyone has ever tried it?

Let me know what anyone might think about it... Thanks, Chris

yea, alot of people here have ebay intakes, not bad for the price though, but the one that goes down to the front bumper has the risk of sucking up water, so you may not want to get that one, also another member here bought one didint really like it and made a new one out of PVC and looks REALLY good check it out...also i cant really feel the extra HP but it makes one hell of a sound

a couple of guys on here have it. i was gonna try it but ended up getting a afe with best offer. i personally think that most intakes are exactly the same, the only difference being the filters. some filters flow better than others.

I am running a similar intake. I got one from the same people but doesn't drop it down into the "danger zone" of water splashes and such. Mine sits right around where the K&N ones sit. And I built my own heat shield. Throttle response got a bit better and the sound is good. Once I added the heat shield I can really hear that air sucking sound. It's really not bad for the money.

you arent going to really feel "hp" gains with an intake, just alittle better throttle response. the 57 series claims 10.5 hp at 5500rpm but whatever, its worth it for the sound as others have mentioned...much louder!!

Just a note, even the best kits like the K&N kit only advertise 8hp from their kit, so don't expect much. I'll keep my K&N drop-in filter because it will last forever and eventially pick up a AirAid MIT tube to eliminate the restrictive Hemi Hat resonator.

Thanks for the info, maybe I'll just hold off and get an Airraid or K&N, what is this sound everyone is describing? You'll have to forgive me, I'm quite new to these type of upgrades...

How do the CAI's rank with eachother? I like K&N because it's a name I recognize, but I found a couple other manufacturers like CGS and S&B also make them. Wondering if anyone has tried one of the other brands? Thanks.
