basic tune up
other than plugs, what else can i pick up to do a basic tune up. or like changing the oil, am i gonna pay more picking up parts than i would just having someone do it? ive been searching jegs and summit but cant find much more than plugs and optima batteries
ive been getting horrible mpg, 5.9-7 last night driving around town in 8 degree weather. so im convinced the engine is in a serious need for a tune up.

you looking for performance upgrades per-say? for better fuel mileage
your basic tune up is gonna run about $100 bucks including plug wires and boots (remember you have 16 plugs) ..but not an air filter or oil, you go somewhere and get it done there gonna want like 2-300 bucks so ide do it urself pretty easy and straight forward only 2 of the plugs are kinda irritating but not too bad just get yourself a U joint for your ratchet and ur as good as golden....and i just realized you didint post what kind of engine you have.. all that stuff i just posted is for a HEMI...but other stuff you can do is air filter, oil, tranny fluid change, and differential fluid change...

I think I did a DIY on the plugs, look in that section. It ain't worth what the dealers charge, but I'll tell you this: I've changed plugs at least a hundred times in my life and this Hemi is the biggest bi*ch you'll ever have to do it in...
I think you need to list how many miles you have and what else has ever been done before we can give some good recommendations. Also need to know if there is a check engine light.
Also keep in mind the colder the weather the richer the truck will run which means less MPGs
I think I can come up with a few that are much worse, that yellow TA I have comes to mind. I actually did not think mine was hard at all. The key was sitting in the engine bay. It would be a pain standing on the ground or ladder/chair.

I haven't seen a Hemi in the ram, but I'll tell you, in the D, it's tighter then a gnats assshole in that engine bay. Im not the most mechanically minded person either. Would a "swivel head" plug socket work ok? Not sure what the other member was referring when he said "u joint adapter".
Im working with a 64k mile hemi, stock besides 40series with no resonator. What do I need for a full, complete tune-up? (ie. brand name plugs, wires). Specifics from the experienced would be great.
Thank you in advance. Sorry to the op for thread hijacking. I have a 4.7 too, so any advice for that would be helpful for me and the op
Champion or NGK V-Power plugs (copper only, no platinum), Mopar wires are good, but probably not needed yet, new pcv valve, check and or replace air filter, trans fluid flush and rearend fluid changed would be a good start.
