Question Another **** spark plug thread!!

I was changing the plugs in my Hemi today and noticed every other plug was a Bosch +4 plug and the others were the Champion Copper plus. Whats that all about?? Sorry for another spark plug thread but I just had to ask.

You obviously bought a used truck or had someone else change them at some point and that person had no clue (Thought it had 8 plugs). Put all copper champs back in it.

noooooo...i thought of this myself..if you have the waste spark ignition..( i have another thread about this very thing )in theory you only need to change the 8 under the coil cuz the other 8 only fire on the exhaust stroke...thus wasting the money on the +4s on the wasted spark ones....

I would say someone was attempting to save a couple of bucks. I'd imagine the +4s were the ones under the coil packs?
The other plug at each cylinder is only used for a secondary burn. This is primarily done for cleaner emissions. I'm not really sure if there is a performance benefit. I'd probably not do it, nor even run the +4's in the primaries for that matter.
Nobody has shown me yet where there is any benefit to a platinum plug in the Hemi. Replace them with 16 low cost Champion Coppers and you'll be good for the next 30k miles...

They probably didn't know that there were plugs under the coils. Just under the wires like most other engines.

Yeah, that's strange. Either the guy had NO clue, or he put the +4s under the coils originally them swapped. Hemi's are known not to run as well with platinum plugs. As the "burn" plug, it wouldn't make a difference.
Regardless, it wouldn't have hurt anything...

maybe they changed them all out for +4's and the HEMI didn't like em so he had to buy some cheapie ones to make it run better lol prolly didn't have much money left over from buyin the 16 +4's

On a side note (or thread hijack attempt), our D has 64k miles on it, we've only had it a year. Time to tune'er up huh? I just saw another thread about tuneups, so I'll hit that up first........
