Question Airaid Drop in

I was looking to upgrade the intake, and was looking at multiple "cai" setups. I like the way airaid looks. I want to keep the stock box with the filter there but want to remove the "hat" that connects to the TB. They want 105-110 for the drop in piping. Is there any other company that has something similiar. I cant call myself up to spend that much for that small of a product that doesnt use a whole new filter etc etc.
Thanks for the responses....

lol then your with about 75% of everyone here, i like the stock box also and im thinking of making my own tube to go from TB to the box, shouldent be too hard just get some PVC and some rubber connectors.. i bought an ebay intake first for about 30 bucks, not happy with the position of the filter and filter gets dirty quick!!

Its unfinished of course. I plan on painting it black, glossy probably. Only ended up using about 7in of pvc + the elbow. Cost about $30 in all. Not much "noise" too it, until wot.

I ran into a little hiccup buttoning it all up. I dont know if I used to long of an elbow or what, but the airbox wouldnt sit back on the studs, in its original spot. So, the intake tube was facing into the fender wall, almost touching it. Soooo, I just cut about an inch off it, putting the inlet closer to where the air comes in, instead of trying to scavange it from the little area it was put in.

Hope this helps a little. Its not the purtiest thing in the world, but it did help a touch power wise, Ive gained 1mpg, so far, and saved a couple hundred bucks.....

Trueflow sells one but it's around $250 for just the pipe and foam filter. Like the others said, cheapest way is to make your own...second cheapest is the airaid MIT.

Nice, I like, I'm just worried about the sensors and holes to put the stuff that needs to be put in. They want to much money for a tube with some holes and a decal lol.

I just went to Advanced Auto, bought a $3 pack of rubber grommets, sized the right grommet to the sensor, then drilled the right-sized hole accordingly. Voala!!! Im about 78% retarded and still got this done, for, like I said $30 roughly, and an hr of my time. Do it, do it!!!!

Edit: rssjib's setup is absolutely awesome. The ONLY reason Im not copycatting him is b/c I got a k&n drop-in for xmas, so I just went this route. Still very pleased with it, except for the unpainted part, which Ill get to sometime or another

Rango - yours looks tight!! I like that look actually because I think the most restrictive part is the hemi hat. And I am 89% retarded! LOLOL I used a PVC grommet for a freakin' Toyota for my IAT!!
