Exhaust ? does not involve mufflers this time.
So i went to my local exhaust shop and the guy tells me that he can run true dual but it will only be 2 1/4" piping.
How bad is this going to hurt the flow and power in my motor?
I was wanting 3" but because of spare tire and shock he says that is the best he could do. Any one else run smaller pipe than 3". I'm seriously thinking about getting rid of the spare and just throwing in back of truck so that i can run 3". I would run aftermarket but no one has a setup with the angled side pipes running 4" tips. Plus some of the aftermaket stuff is well over what i was told it would cost. Let me know what you think and will this hinder flow to much?
oh yeah i will be running magnafows on truck.
Thanks.

actually thats about the right size you need to be running to have proper scavageing, without this you will loose low end torq, and wont help with the 315's you have..you want to run about 2 1/2 true duals or 3" single, check this out http://autolounge.net/calculators/ex...ustsizing.html

He wants to run 2 1/4 from manifolds/headers back? What setup is he making....X-pipe, H-pipe, neither, etc. Throw me a bone here
I wouldn't go smaller than 2 1/2 for a 350....2 1/4 is pretty damn small.

Which angled setup for the exhaust are you talking about?

You mean like that under the muffler or somewhere else? If it's there, I can give you some help on it, I have duals, but not true duals.

2 1/2 fits fine...
Thanks guy i will be sure to tell him to run 2 1/2". severdistortion, i think it will probably be an h pipe, i forgot to ask him the other day so i will find out for sure today and get back at you. ried69 it will be 45 out the back then kicked down about another 45, they call this cowboying the pipes. saw it on a tahoe that looked really nice. The tips will shorter than a standard length 4" tip, this way he will be able to kick the pipes down. oh this will be from the cats back.

True duals is an exhaust pipe from each individual header all the way to the back of the car. A Y-pipe that opens up one 3" pipe into 2 2-1/2" pipes is a fake dual set-up and actually hinders flow no matter how you approach it. Fake duals=loss in power!
