Has any one tried to remove a clad cover yet? I would also like to remove them to paint them and try to reinstall them. I was bummed out to find out they are plastic and not a solid aluminum rim.
They do have polished alum rims in that style. It was an option. Ebay is bound to have a few sets.

The rim is solid aluminum, just like the unclad, the wheel is just not chromed. I like the looks of the 08 wheels myself, the older ones with the fat spokes just don's look as good. But that is just my personal opinion so don't flame me if you own an 05-back
