You already installed it to be sure it is unlocked? If so, that's a good deal.

yeah he let me plug it in before I bought it. Then when I got home I did the full program on it. I did the 93 octane, but i thought I remember something about 87 program getting better mileage. Ill search that one though, we dont need to go thru it again in this thread...lol. kinda sucks the tire size option is not available for the hemis though cause my speedo is off about 5 mph and was hoping this would fix it. oh well.

Make sure you work 93 octane through all your lines before you go too crazy! Your truck my retard itself and run worse if it's experiencing knock

i put the 93 setting on, and drove it about 5 miles. not that noticable difference if you ask me. im gonna put it on 87 today, and keep running 89 octane thru it. im mostly after fuel economy. my goal is to have the programmer pay for itself rather quickly in fuel savings. a lil extra power wouldnt hurt, but then i would be "excercising" it too much and just having fun with it...wait a minute thats what i should be doing with it...lol.

i didnt want to ask this, but I cant find a direct answer. is the 87 octane setting with 89 octane fuel in the truck the way to go on the hypertech? all i can find is the 93 octane setting is no improvement. i found one guy that uses 87 octane w the 87 setting, but i had the hole in the piston scenario from detonation so I want to run the 89 in it. any ideas? sorry, i was trying to avoid the "programmer" questions...

I pour in 93octane in my truck and have the 91oct tune installed. I run the 93 for security. The 91oct for the Diablo gives the best fuel economy and very nice power gains over the 89tune. I ran 89/91 and 93. 91 got better mpg's. The 93 tune was horrendous for mpgs and the 89tune was close to the 91tune, but still fell short for some reason? I ran 10gallons for each test and drove exactly the same.
running a little higher octane is a good reassurance for security especially since the programmer is advancing the timing compared to stock and Chrysler reccomends 89oct from their tune as is. I would run 91 with an 89 tune if it were me. It certainly can't hurt.

interesting...thanks for the info. We only have 93 in nevada, and it can cost quite a bit more, since its considered our premium. thats why I wanted to run 89 with the 87 tune...ill do the math, maybe its worth it to put in premium if i can see mpg gains from it...

89 with the 87 tune is safe. Is the thing updateable like the Predator? I can't believe that it doesn't have a tire size option. Maybe a local Hypertech dealer can update it for a small fee.
