Unless it is dragging on the ground with a large tree stuck to it, I doubt the bumper is the problem.

Something seems off. That is horrible gas mileage. My 2500 pulling a 3500 pound boat with a 2500 pound camper on the back gets around 10.

That is what i just did.... if you dont believe me then i will tell you where i got the website that tells me how to hand calculate the mpg... here is the website, https://www.fueleconomy.gov/mpg/MPG.do?action=calcMPG

i did the first part on the top of the website

Odometer Method

MPG can be calculated in four easy steps:

Step 1. Filling the vehicle's gas tank completely and writing down the vehicle's odometer reading (mileage). Example: The last time the tank was filled, the odometer reading was 32,645.1 miles.

Step 2. When it's time to refuel, filling the tank completely and writing down the number of gallons it took to fill the tank and the vehicle's new odometer reading. Once two odometer readings are taken, MPG can be calculated. Example: The next time the tank was filled, the odometer reading was 33,001.3. It took 13.5 gallons to fill the tank.

Step 3. Calculating the distance driven by subtracting the previous odometer reading from the new one. Example: The distance driven would be 33,001.3 minus 32,645.1, or 356.2 miles.

Step 4. Dividing the number of miles driven by the number of gallons it took to fill the tank. The result is the vehicle's MPG for that driving period.

Example: 356.2 miles divided by 13.5 gallons equals 26.4 miles per gallon.

The MPG for that driving period would be 26.4.

That is what i followed the steps...

Something just doesnt seem right. Overheads may not be dead on but 15 overhead to 7 actual seems WAY too far off...have you been rolling with a REAL heavy foot?

Unless you were driving though a lot of snow, something is going wrong. I noticed about a 2 mpg drop when it turned cold(my weather should be similar to yours). My highway mileage stayed about the same at 15, but mostly local driving slipped from 13-14 to 11-12. The primary cause is the warm up cycle on short trips. Until the motor warms up, approximately 160F, you are running rich and the lubricants are stiff on dino oil. My overhead is usually 1/2 mpg optimistic. Summer I average 350 miles per tank, winter I lucky to get 300.

First stop should be AutoZone or similar store and see if you have any codes remembering to ask for "pending codes."

Yep i agree Snow will eat your mileage quick..
Ive seen 4.1 on the overhead average, because i was driving through 8" of wet slushy snow, in 4 wheel, doing about 30-40mph turning like 4k rpms...

My overhead has never been off more than 1 mpg.

Something is wrong, with your truck, or you hit a wrong number.. something
