now I want you to PM dodgenitto and ask him what I advised him to do when he talked to 4 wheel parts and ask him how much they dropped his quote!

That's about a $1200 job at 4 Wheel Parts and about $1600 if you have them put an aftermarket LSD in...

I don't think you are going to do any or much better than that, plus they usually have a guy does pretty much only hub & diff work, so finding a place with that kind of experience is not going to be easy... But like I said 4 Wheel Parts is like dealing for a car, they start at retail and every store mgr. can price match and haggle...

when i had my 2nd gen, i was quoted $850 per axle everything included, so what they quoted you sounds about right. The best deal, no. but the average going rate, probably.

Sounds about right for the quote you got. You can always talk 'em down some though. Goodluck.

I paid $1426 out the door for that exact same job at 4 Wheel Parts in Orlando Fl. in June of 2006!!! Was originally quoted $1990 before tax before getting my ducks in a row printing out some prices off the web...

Please be kind in your answer (I am still ony a 6 month truck owner)
I am trying to figure out the benefit to changing from 3.73 to 4.10 Ratio on my Mega Cab 4x4. The only thing I can figure is it give me about 1000 lbs more room to Tow. Is this the only benefit and is it worth it ?

That's kind of a deal where you probably should have gotten the 4.10 off the lot. I don't know if the 1k added towing capacity will justify the cost of the gear change. No question the engine and tranny will work a bit easier towing, it's a tough call to make, having the 4.56s I'd go it again in a heartbeat, I guess you need to be the judge. If you are towing and it bogs, then do it, but if I were making the jump, I'd to straight to 4.56s, and if I went that far, you are in the enviable position of having a solid front axle, can you say "front and rear lsd's"???
