Supercharged (94rt10ohio)
So I called Whipple yesterday to confirm that they suck and don't make an application for our glorious 5.7L..... However they said I am not neccessarily stuck with a procharger and to check out kenne bell superchargers which are also twin screw technology.... Anyone ever used a kenne bell?.... I had a whipple before and I loved it... I would like to hear from someone who actually knows how the kenne belle performs? 94rt10ohio? I know you u supercharged ur srt10 ram ... tell me something please
I know in the mustang world KB is one of the preferred choices. Its really a tossup between the KB and the whipple for "Terminator" owners, but I haven't personally heard anything negative about either. I also don't have any personal experience with either, so take my .02 for what its worth....
I stated yesterday that Kennebell is making a 2.2L and availability is unknown. No need to start yet another thread. However, Whipple had the biggest CFM flow over KB. Now KB has stepped up and has the biggest flow machine around I believe. They make a 2.8HO mammoth for the newer stangs. Huge numbers.
Anyways, KB is definitely a solid choice. If and when they do come out with something I will buy. The reason they are delayed is that the friggin 04 Rams are giving thema problem. They need to squash that project and step past those problematic 04's. That's what held up the Diablo Predator for so freakin long! That, and I think there was a patent that Superchips used that made Diablo have to wait.
KB has a 3yr/36kmi warranty. They generally come with everything you need for prpoer install and my guess is $5600 for the Ram's. They claim with the 2.2L over 500hp on a stock 2003Hemi. Kennebell uses Flywheel HP. The kit will come stock with only a 6psi pulley

didnt realize there was another thread on this... thanks for the input.... recently a buddy of mine put a procharger on and to be totally honest at 6lbs i wasnt impressed very much..... I had a whipple on a transam a few years back.... and I recently bought another one.... for this new ws6 project I have going on... its really irritating me that whipple doesnt have one for the 5.7 and 6.1 because I really love their stuff man.... maybe i should just get a 841 lol

the procharger takes longer to get the boost almost like having turbo lag thats why you probably werent as impressed. if your going that route vortech makes a sweet setup that delivers the power right away. as far as the twin screw setup take a look at airrams project. making the eaton m112 ( ford 4.6l sc) compatable with the dodge 4.7l by way of plenum adapters. its awesome to see and will be even better once he gets back from iraq and gets it finished. KB makes great products and will be worth the wait too. i know this isnt really a reason to buy a sc but they have the best sc squeel EVER haha. you should build up your tranny and motor to be able to handle more than the stock 6lbs the stock setup can do.
m112 maxes out on a 2003 Mustang Cobra at 15lbs of boost. It will create roughly 475rwhp for that car.
Take a KenneBell 2.6L Twin Screw and set it up for 11-12lbs of boost and it can create at least 475+rwhp. That's efficiency at it's best.

So was the procharger on a ram or on something else? I have had my eye on getting one of them one of these days after I can save up enough (and clear it by the wife) for a while now. I like it mainly because its a self contained system so no tapping into the oil pan and has the air to air intercooler as well. At 6psi with that system a ram should be putting right around 390hp to the rear wheels which is right around 460-470hp at the crank (its right around a 19% +/- loss in power through our drive train if I remember it correctly). 390rwhp on pump gas sounds geat to me personally. I know the STS Turbos puts out 425wrhp or close to it but Im not to keen on their setup. I also have not heard of it having to spool up like a turbo system but then again I also can only go by what I have read through various articles and owner reviews...

The centrifugals may be a better bet for street tires. They gain power with increasd rpm. The twin screws have instant neck breakin power that would casue tire spin like crazy.
