i do most minor work, but when it comes to serious stuff, i take it somewhere. i am cursed when it comes to working on cars. any time i buy a part, even if its brand new, it either doesnt work, or doesnt go on right. so a quick 30 minute job turns into 2 hours or something. plus serious stuff i dont want to risk screwing up. intake, exhaust, lights, sound system, oil changes, brakes, i do myself. however i just learned its cheaper to have an oil change done then it is to do it myself. not to mention then i have to go take the oil to the dump and put it in their special container.

I try and do everything I possibly can. I don't like grease monkeys getting into my truck, messing with my seat adjustments just to drive into the damn building. I started the trend with my Mustang of unplugging the power seat so it can't be changed..hehehe
Leaning all over the side of my scratchless vehicles and making a mess under the hood.

I'm as **** as this...If my inspection sticker in my front windshield is crooked and not aligned evenly with my registration, I heat it up, peel it off and re-apply. I know I have a problem, but I just can't help trying to have everything perfect...lol

I do ALL my own work short of alignments and tire changes. If I could afford the machinerym and it made sense, I would do that too. Short of any warranty work, I have a hard time trusting someone else. I've seen too much shoddy work in the past.

I figure, if I don't know it, I'll either figure it out, or find out from someone who does know it, and ask them how its done.

I wish I knew how to work on my own truck. I just cant tell the difference between a 13mm and a 1/2" wrench! Dont get me started on a 10mm and a 3/8" deepwell socket! and why is those snap on or matco tools so expensive?? I have found that those "china" brand tools are good for rounding off a perfectly good bolt head. oh well my coolant low light is on so I better go fill it with some washer fluid, while im at it I better check my blinker fluid!!

J/K I may not be a great mechanic or figure things out very fast but ill change the hell out of some parts!

NEVER TO THE DEALER for anything. I do most of it, but something "above my paygrade" goes to a trusted shop.

When I bought my house 2 years ago I was lucky enought to get a Heated 1000sqft garage with a lift and a large compressor in it. However I yet to actually use it, This was about the time I started getting really lazy, That combined with the fact that I just didn't like the van and old truck I had at the time drove me to walmart to get most of my work done, Yes I said walmart.

Now that I have a truck that I actually enjoy, I feel more motivated and very well might start working on things myself. You just can't trust that alot of mechanics know what they are doing or worse can't trust them at all, And if you want something done properly in alot of cases the only way get it done is do it yourself.

So about the only thing that I probably wont do is the powertrain, Since they are under warranty.

Infact I may by a welding torch and learn how to weld so that I can do my own exhaust.

I do everything that is not covered under a warranty. I have my own shop to work in though so it's not too bad. Having a few lifts and an alignment machine and almost any tool I need helps also.

Well, it is basically brand new, so I will let the dealer do some stuff, but overall, I try to do it myself. I am as **** as dirtydog.....

But I do know the Sales Mgr at the dealership, so I kind of get a little special treatment.....I know a couple of the guys as well. But overall, I try to solve the issue first for sure.
