Default Has anyone else had this transmission problem??

Ok, i just picked up my 02 dodge ram. It has the 5.9 in it with the auto trans. The problem im having is that i have to manualy shift the trans, and the only way i can get it into 1st gear is to come to a complete stop, put it in park, then back into 1st gear. Once its in drive it will go back and forth from 3rd and 4th with no problem. I have replaced all 3 sensors inside of the trans and i was woundering if it could be the transmission shift computer? Please, anykind of info will help. I also scanned the computer and it did come up with a code but i do not remember what it was. I will scan it again tomorrow and let you know what i came up with. Thanks in advance for anykind of help!

Post up the code that you pulled, that might help shed some light on what is going on with your trans.

well i cleared the codes that were in the computer today because from driving it with the original code it threw multiple codes. My plan was to clear the codes then drive it so the actual code that is causing the problem would come on by itself so i would know. I drove it for a good 45min and the light is not comming back on. I scanned it after driving it thinking that maybe it stored the code just did not trigger the light but nothing....im stumped!

actually now that i think about....when the rams came out in 02 for a limited time they had a 7yr/100K powertrain warranty, but it only lasted for a few months....might do some checking, see when the truck was put into service and how many miles you got on your truck.....might get lucky

It has 118k on it. I was on my way home from work tonight and the light came back on, so when i get to work in the morning im going to scan it again. My dads buddy has a trans shop so i called him today and he told me to check the powers to the relay so if that code does not help me at all I think im going to try that next. When i do get this figured out i will post it up so if anyone else has this problem they will know what to do.

Haha... or have a semi take it out... Lord knows they don't pay attention enough anymore - even to a freaking pylon colored car!! LOL - then their insurance can take care of it... and then some!!
