you lot have scared me
Haha, I was about to jump on that one too dirtydog, but I figured I'd let someone else get burnt first.
I was thinking the same thing...actually in reverse. If he is getting 18.5 MPG on Imp Gal, then it would be lower in US Gal. However I think he is stating the on-board reading is showing 18.5 MPG US Gal, which would be something like the 22 MPG Imp Gal he calculated. Anyone else confused?

makes sense to me. truck reads us gallons, he calculated imperial gallons. So he got more miles per his "gallon" that he purchased, I think is what he's trying to say. I could be wrong though...
truck is great ran nearly 400miles mosly short journeys cant stop using truck fuel comp says 11.9 reckon that about 14.5 in our imperial gallons. stuck 5.30 semi syn and filter change and dropped a k&n panel filter in air box next jobs are to change diff oil trans fluid then to tackle plugs still unsure what plugs to use my parts supplier says stick with the champions but have been offerd autolite platignums wot do u think. rear 20" tyres will then need changing have got some general grabbers have any of u used them once again thanks for advice both to forum members in usa and uk
Good call on the oil, despite what was stated here, your '03 wants 5w/30. Stay with synthetics anywhere you replace fliuds.
For plugs, stay with the Champion coppers, they are cheaper and most actually report a degraded performance and fuel economy with the much more expensive platinum types. At recommended 30k changes and 16 plugs, your wallet will thank you anyway.
The use of synthetics all around (don't forget the additive in the rear if you have the factory LSD, and yes, I'd pour in at least half a bottle even if the synthetic you use states it's not needed), coupled with the better flowing K&N drop-in and a little better flowing cat-back exhaust will do quite nicely.
If I were going to do any modifications at all after that, I'd pick up a nice "canned tune" tuner such as the Superchips Flashpaq 3815 or Diablo Predator and call it a day. Many benefits to a tuner, better performance, mpg's, firmer transmissions shifts and the ability to read and clear codes. Personally, I think the firmer shifts with a Superchips is worth the cost of the unit alone...
Best of luck with your new investment...
