It's actually the mold casting of the carrier tht breaks off which causes the clips to come off and fail

If it'll make you feel better, my 2003 (that I got with 28,000 miles, now has 82,000 miles) has only had one problem, the front brakes, which all these 3rd gens seem to suffer from. A set of Power Slot rotors and Hawk pads later, 5200 lbs hauls down quick!

I've got 109k miles on my truck, with the factory LSD and no trouble with it. The hemi tick is a common problem, but more an annoyance than a real issue, and the IFS is only an issue if you do a lot of off-roading and abusive driving. Brakes are a real problem, these trucks seem to tear through em, but once they need done, put a good set of aftermarkets in and it'll be fine. Welcome to DF!

The best piece of advice I ever got is to just keep up on your regular maintenance. If you do that, your truck should last you a long time.

hi picked up truck saturday all good got 18.4 mpg over 165 miles and our gallons are bigger than yours so does that equate to 22.5 mpg . Have got hemi ram slt sport how does that differ from other models.am leaving truck stockish except for an exhaust aint they quiet, so am doing major service asap fluids plugs etc. So the big question after reading all on the forum will I be ok to use 5 30 semi syn or does it have to be fully syn also finally what plugs for a standard hemi un modded also wheres the fuel filter and do they have a pollen / cabin filter thanks for all your help

all the hemi's i've seen call for 5w20. syn, semi-syn, dino, that's your call. some have reported a slight mpg gain with full syn, which would be expected. i used to be a dino guy, but recently found a full syn for less than $1 more a qt, so i switched to full syn. i run 5000 miles between changes, and a full syn gives me a little more insurance on that.

for plugs, just stick with OEM champions. there's 16 of them, and spending a whole lotta $$$ on plugs isn't something i'm fond of. just change them every 30K miles as recommended by the manufacturer.

not sure on the cabin air filter. i asked about one recently, and the parts store didn't have a PN, so either there isn't one, or they just don't carry it.

i've heard the fuel filter is inline with the fuel pump, in the tank. not sure if that's the case or not.

also not sure about the SLT Sport vs other models. I'm guessing its merely an appearance pkg. SLT i think adds some amenities to the interior though, ie power windows, remote keyless entry, etc.

BTW, congrats on the new truck!!

Huh? Gallons are gallons no matter where your from, the same as Liters are Liters.
Also, can't strictly go by the overhead dash guage for mileage estimates.

My converter said (UK)gallons were .8326738 for every 1 US gallon.

Forgot about the Imperial...
