Default decided against high output alternator....

too many poor reviews on them....if u get one u need to adjust ur idle to 8-900 rpm's....other wise everything dims down at idle...not paying 300 plus dollars for that....I see that dodge offers 2 alts for our 06 ram hemi....136amp and 160.....I dont know wat models have wat......Im assuming i have 136amp but i guess i outta go see if it says it on mine....my voltage is getting below the middle line at idle now......

I believe my alternator is going out on me... it's got 115K on it plus I got kenwood screen, rear camera, amp, 2 mtx 10" subs so I think it's about time

Good information re: idle setting. Sounds like it's time for a battery, though. Will the 160ah fit in the 136ah mount? I considered this for a F-150 I had one time, but the mount was the cost of a battery. Chose to just deal with changing the battery every year or so.

When did Optima start making Gel Batt's, I thought they only made AGM(absorbed glass mat) Batt's?

High Output Alternators do tend to use a bit of juice at idle. They tend to drain power when run under 800rpms. Anyways, I opted and chose a Batcap. My light don't dim ever and it's reserve is excellent. I have a 3,000watt system. Not a flicker in a light. My Hellas are as bright with the truck off as they are on. 100w bulbs. My batcap is now 4yrs old. Works perfect.
