Default Can I use 0w-20 Amsoil in my Hemi?

I just turned 15k on my truck and want to switch over to fully synthetic oil. My buddies all tell me Amsoil is the best but Amsoil doesn't make a 5w-20 in their premium oil, only 0w-20. The Dodge dealer said to stick specifically to what the manual says which is 5w-20. Says it will cause problems. I'm on the fence. Can anyone tell me if it will make a difference/harm the motor if I use 0w-20 or should I just stick to what the manual says?
Thanks

You have MDS, so runner a heavier weight oil will cause issue's. Thinner oil won't cause any issue's for your mds.
However, I would just get a Synthetic manufacturer that has factory spec 5w-20 just incase Chyrsler tries to deny your warranty if there are issue's. Ofcourse it will be blamed on the 0w oil.

i have to agree with dirty dog. with the amount of selections of oil available you have no good reason to not run the proper weight of oil that manufacturer specifies.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, I wouldnt want to give bad advice here. The manual calls for 5w-20? So as long as the second number is a 20 he should be perfect. The first number always refers to the oils ability to flow in cold weather at start up. The second has to do with how the oil flows when heated up to a certain degree. So, thus being said, if you do get a 0w-20 then you should be fine.

When I cant get agip 5w-30 PC Synthetic, I always run 0w-30 from Castrol which says made in Germany and I dont have any problems and its a 0 weight.

0 weight is mostly used for cold weather climates...for better start up flow...

I would say you have science behind your side with using a 0w-20. Its not uncommon for people who use 5w-30 to switch to 5w-20.

I would never use a 20 oil in my vehicle because I have never seen a 5w-20 in Europe. They used 0w-30, 5w30 or 0w-40, 5w-40. That lower oil was for better cafe standards in the US and I have read alot of info that says it isnt as good at protecting engine components at higher temps.
You can use the 0w 20, you will be fine man. Call amsoil or mobil 1 ask them if its acceptable. Go online and look at temp shear and how the oil holds up at higher temps.
If you have any questions, do some research on your own; you can find many research articles about oil and the proper use expending just a few minutes searching.
