Default Flowmaster 50 Big Block?

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of getting some aftermarket exhaust. A person I talked to at Monro Muffler suggested for my truck either the 50 Series Big Block or the 80 Series. I've been really leaning towards magnaflow but he said it's actually really quiet, especially at idle, like it's not much louder than stock. So what do you guys suggest for my setup? 2006 Ram 1500 QC SLT 5.7L HEMI w/ an Airaid CAI. Thanks!

dont know about your 5.7 but this is the 3rd truck ive had with a magnaflow, and i would never go back to a flowmaster. they sound like junk IMO. too raspy.
i say, magnaflow-way to go!

if you go magnaflow and want it to sound nice and somewhat loud get the 14 inch muffler. the 18?22 are soo quiet. look into the aero at3030, great muffler, perfect sound. the fm 50 has a nice tone but its still not that aggressive, the fm 80 is a waste, your truck will be liek stock still with that. i have the fm original 40 its loud but could be louder. i like the sound of a V8, they should all come factory as loud as can be haha. but if your set on magnaflow check out the 14 inch mufflers, they have a great sound.

muffler and exhaust sound is all about personal taste, best bet is to go to youtube and check on some sound clips.

If you want performance along with sound get a straight-through muffler like magnaflow or hookers max flow....flowmasters and other chambered mufflers are only sound.

Yea I'm still leaning towards magnaflow. Flowmasters sound too raspy. I want a well refined, deep, low rumble that will shake the ground when I stomp on it. I've been checking out youtube, alot of videos have sound distortion so it's hard to tell if it sounds good or not.

How well can you tolerate highway exhaust drone? Cause both will give it to you. For performance and sound go for the Cherrybomb Vortex. Check it out.....http://s272.photobucket.com/albums/j...ombVortex3.flv

I don't know about the 80 series but I had the 50 HD on my truck at one point. It was barely louder than stock at idle and slightly louder when driving around town. Personally, it was too quiet for me. I have a vid of what the 50 HD sounds like from when I was selling selling it. If you want to hear it before you buy, let me know and I will find the video.

Magnaflows will sound great and outperform the Flowmasters. They are stainless too and won't rust away.
