The 6.1 is a mid/high HP gain cam, and because of it's grind, results in a LOSS of low end torque. Nice cam for a car, maybe even a 4x2 RCSB lowered Hemi, but a VERY poor choice for a QC 4x4.

There is no holy grail kid, you wan't performance, you gotta pay for it. If you learn to do even half the labor yourself, you can cut the cost of your mods by upwards of 50%, since labor is, in many cases 75% of the cost of a mod or even more...
First off, im not a kid. I dont call you grandpa... secondly, you're right i dont search EVERYTHING i post on here, but I do search most of the things...so forgive me for the occasional repost. Im not concerned about labor costs... I do the vast majority of my own work anyways. What I dont wanna do is pay a ton of money for non-noticeable gains. I havent dealt with engine internals before, so forgive me for trying to learn, but apparently (after looking at the traffic this thread is getting) I'm not the only one looking for answers. So next time, instead of criticizing the noobs, just dont post anything. all the best to ya

Yes, about 20 in the extreme high end of the rpm range. Problem is, you'll lose low end. A good majority of the people who go to the 6.1 cam, change it out not long after going to it. And many who don't, state that they would not do it again, but don't want to pay to have it removed.
Also, even though, springs are not necessary, with the 6.1, there are a few who have had springs go. I you do decide to put a 6.1 cam in, spend the $75 and at least do the Mopar 6.1 springs, retainers & push rods. $75 now, or new engine later, hmmmmmmm...

Now honestly, there was no criticizing intended, and the "kid" is just how I talk. There was no disrespect meant, just as I don't take any when 80% of the people on this forum call me "old man" or "pops". If you take the "kid" inference out, I see NOTHING derogatory about my post.
I gave you specifics about the grind characteristics of the Mopar 6.1 cam and simply pointed out that to make a cam job more affordable to you, you might want to learn how/do most or all of the labor. I think you just saw "kid" and disregarded the rest of my post as criticism...

i think you're probably right... haha no worries man. no harm no foul

moving on... after a lot of research it looks like the 210 is probably the best cam for my setup. after the cam, retainers, springs, rods, etc...its still a lot of money for 35 hp. prob not worth it to me right now. i wanna get this thing dyno'd now to see where i stand (340 rwhp is my guess)

Are those all the mods in your sig? If they are you'll be sadly disappointed when you dyno your truck...

Yeah I was lookin at a bunch of dyno's of other people with about the same stuff I got and they're barely hittin 300 rwhp... I was gettin way depressed. What the heck... I hate the stupid power loss in the drivetrain. Its def not gonna be long before the engine gets some work to it. I want to see the 350 mark. period

Depends on the cam you get, but roughly 35-50 rwhp, again depending on the intensity of the cam. Keep in mind the cam is only 1 part of this. You'll also need new springs, retainers, and may as well do rods while you're in there. When its all done, a regular canned tune (superchips or diablo) will be able to tame the mild cams (35hp) or it'll take a custom tune on a dyno to get the higher end cams (50hp).

Either way you're lookin at around $700 just for parts. Labor/dyno is probably gonna be another 1k-1.5k if you dont do it yourself
