I'm hoping it's not coming from your front diff, rebel, cause that's an indication of a problem with the gears.
I'd make sure it's coming from there, but my bet is both of you are getting it from your rear diff and you both have LSDs.
Change the lube in the rear diff or at the very least, pop the cap off and dump in about half a bottle of limited slip juice and see if it magically goes away...

Nope, I don't have 4x4. It sounds like it is coming from the front-passenger side area...I got underneath the truck to look and I didn't see anything that didn't seem normal. It makes the sound when I am at low speeds and turning, and while I am going straight it ticks a little bit but much quieter than when it does when I am making a turn or backing out of a driveway or parking spot.
The first time it made this noise was today.
Oh, and I guess I should have included that my truck is a 2004 Dodge Ram 2wd with the 5.7. It is regular cab, short box if that makes any difference as well.
Wheel bearing or rotor will both make a sound like that. Also, look at the rack real well for fluids, you are at the age where people are having the racks go out on their trucks...
thats for sure...but when both my racks had to be replaced i never had any noise issues. how many miles on that 04?

ive done both...the first time my mechanic noticed it was leaking, so i decided to just replace it before i had problems. right now the truck is at the dealership and they also noticed my right one leaking so im doing that one under warrenty. its frustrating that dodge would put such a crap design over and over in mupltiple year vehicles, its a common thing to go wrong. your best off replacing it before you have other issues, hopefully you have a warranty? and make sure whatever way you go dont get a re built one, at least i wouldnt, i wouldnt trust it.
