You cheated! You didn't indicate you had a trailer until after I posted... 
That's like taking your truck to the dealer and telling him your truck wouldn't start, then after he spent the day trying to duplicate the problem, volunteering the fact it only does it when you don't put the key in the ignition...

I was able to tow 44 bundles of shingles, 1 roll of eave gaurd, and 3 rolls of tar paper spread out between my 1500 and a 3500 # trailer this summer. I had everything perfectly balanced and just a shade below my max axle weights.
I only got the trailer up in the air once...where they had the road ground down to repave it. I think I was doing 15 mph but the road was slupted like a motorcycle jump.
