Nitrogen in Tires...New Thread
I havent seen a thread on this so far so here it is...
Nitrogen supposedly gets better gas mileage, longer refill time, less chance of blowout, blah blah...needless to say I got it in all four tires of both my car and my wife's volvo. Goodyear Wrangler and Yokahama Avids, respectively.
Day after I get it done, I have a blowout on 15,000 mile old tires. 2 weeks later, she has a blowout on less than week old tires. Different roads by the way. Let all of the nitrogen out in a pissed state, throwing away the $32 bucks I spent on it. Well, that new tire I bought from the 15,000 mile blowout was the only one that I had nitrogen in (she took the truck in to get the tire replaced/mounted and got nitrogen) just had a blowout again. Different road, different speed. I don't ever spin my tires either.
Give me your input on this...I told everyone how good it was and now I'm thrashing the idea of nitrogen to everyone I talk to. Any experience with it guys?

yeah nitrogen is a complete joke dont get its a simple way for them to make money the main thing about nitrogen was the cooler temps when driving on the road for long times but its a complete waste man you got ripped off in more then one way man and sorry about the blow outs
doubt the blow-outs are due to the nitrogen, but it is pretty much a scam if you aren't running 200mph+ or other completely extreme bizarre circumstances that I doubt you could get into... the air you breath is about 78% nitrogen anyway and unless the people filling your tires with it can pull a vacuum on them prior to introducing the "100% nitrogen", you aren't doing anything other than upping the percentage a bit... you decide. Does going from 78 to 80% nitrogen to 85 to 92% going to make much of a difference for you?
sorry about your luck with the tires though... that sucks.

well I guess it isnt such a rage up north...thats all I hear about down here, they push it hard with every tire sale at all of the tire dealerships, including dodge...yea I didnt think about 75-78% of dry air being nitrogen?anyway, i guess all it is good for is beer now huh?
Ive had nitrogen in my tires since i put on my aftermarkets...never a problem. As a trucker my pickup sits for weeks at a time and ive never had to "add" wheres my old blazer would ALWAYS have at least 1 low tire...i personally have no complaints.
I keep regular free air in my tires and have a trailer that sits all winter long and we dont even have to add more air to it and the reason they push it and my wheel and tire man told me this is because they get to charge like 7 bucks per tire and that it wont effect performance or improve it so there are both sides to it but i will just stay with the free stuff
Blow-outs are not Nitrogen related as it's been stated already that Nitrogen is more than 80% of everyday air anyways.
Nitrogen was first used in Airplane tires for Ice reduction inside the tire as well as high heat capability.
Everyday car on the road, it's a waste. Over exaggerated marketing scheme.
